Another Great Year for Chess Club!

The chess year came to a close and ended with a bang for our players! We had our largest showing this year at the Baltimore Kids Chess League (BKCL) grade championship on 5/30/26 with 11 players (Carlos Martinez, Lincoln Ho, Elliott Schatz, Isaiah Obeng, Emerson Desmond, Grayson Ho, Luca Guzman, Hassan Joda, Timothy Beaudry, Calvin Burger, and Carlos Gonzalez). Special shout outs to Carlos M, Elliott and Hassan for their first time playing in a tournament, and they all did great!

Congratulations to the follow medal finishers.
Carlos M won 1st in 3rd grade u500.
Isaiah O won 1st in 5th grade u500.
Lincoln H won 1st in 3rd grade open.
Luca G won 1st in 7th grade u500.
Grayson H won 2nd place in 6th open.
Calvin B won 3rd in 8th grade open.
Carlos G won 1st place in 8th grade open.

As a team HHA won 1st place in the middle school u500 section and 2nd place in the middle school open section. Thanks to coaches Tavon Carter and Mark Hollak for their chess coaching and support all year. We hope the students enjoyed playing and improving their chess. Keep playing over the summer and see you next school year!

SOCCER CLINICS

FREE Friends of Patterson Park's Youth Soccer Program. Clinics are for girls and boys ages 4 - 12 years old. Designed for all levels, Wednesdays 6 - 7pm. Kids will learn soccer basics, drills and skills, and team work. Non-competitive. Please sign up below in the according age group! There are still some spots available.

Free Sports' Physicals

Students who will be in grades 6-12 in 2026-27! Register for a free sports physical and more at the Under Armour Student Athlete Celebration on Saturday, June 6. The schedule is by school for high schools. For middle schools, select an available timeslot.

Summer Programs Offered by Morgan State University

UACI STEM Camp is a virtual summer program, operating for a half-day over two weeks. This program serves 3rd - 12th grade students and focuses on the fundamentals of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning and program. The Asafo Training Camp is a summer program, operating in-person for one week. This camp serves middle school males (6th through 8th grade) and focuses on leadership, critical thinking, character, life skills and physical fitness. Camp starts on July 26th.
