Moonbounces, cotton candy, a game truck, a DJ, and lots of JM tattoos made for an incredible Fun Day at JM!
From obstacle courses to dance parties, our students spent the day celebrating a year of hard work, growth, and success.
A special thank you to our parent volunteers. Events like this simply wouldn’t happen without your time, energy, and support. Thank you for helping make today so memorable for our Eagles!

Today we celebrated something bigger than sports. We celebrated student athletes.
At JM, we know the scoreboard only tells part of the story. The dedication, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and commitment our students show in the classroom and on the field are what truly make them shine.
Congratulations to all of our athletes who were recognized at today’s Sports Awards Ceremony. We are proud of the way you represent our school every day.
A special shoutout to our GOATs, Keyla and Kan’ren! 🐐 Thank you for setting the standard, leading by example, and excelling both in and out of the classroom. Your impact reaches far beyond athletics, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Last night, our very own Principal Plain was honored with the Heart of the Schools Outstanding Principal Award at the beautiful Hippodrome Theatre! She was surrounded by 50 of her closest friends, family members, and staff as we celebrated the incredible leader she is.
A special video was created honoring Principal Plain and James McHenry, check it out on our story today! The last picture is Ms. Plain and her mom who came from Miami for the big occasion!
Principal Plain, we love you and could not be more proud. You deserve every bit of this recognition and so much more!

5th grade has been out and about lately!
First, they headed to Washington, D.C. for an incredible trip touring monuments and exploring the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Today, they took on JA BizTown where our very own Cerenity served as mayor while the rest of the students stepped into the world of jobs, paychecks, and real-life responsibilities. From what we heard… the students have officially decided adulting is exhausting.

K-2 took over the zoo today and let’s just say the animals had some very excited visitors.
Our students spent the day exploring, asking questions, spotting their favorite animals, and making memories with their classmates. From giant giraffes to tiny reptiles, there was something exciting around every corner.
Big thank you to our staff and chaperones who helped make the day run smoothly.

Our Curiosity Crew, led by Ms. Harris, participated in their very first Baltimore City Elementary Science Olympiad on Saturday… and you would have NEVER guessed it was their first time competing!
Our young scientists showed up ready to think, build, problem solve, and compete. They brought home an incredible 2nd place overall finish along with multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals across the day.
We are beyond proud of our students for representing JM so well. The future of science at James McHenry is looking VERY bright!

You didn’t think we’d let Earth Day pass without celebrating, did you? Around here, we love a reason to post on the gram.
Today our middle school students took to the community to help clean up and show some love to Mother Earth herself. From picking up litter to helping keep our neighborhood beautiful, our students showed what it means to take pride in where we live and learn.
And a friendly reminder, JM installed FIVE brand new trash cans around the school last year. Let’s make sure we’re using them and doing our part to keep our campus clean every day, not just on Earth Day!

Kindergarten took on Baltimore yesterday and did it the best way possible… by learning through play at Port Discovery Children’s Museum
From climbing sky-high in the SkyClimber to exploring a life-sized cargo ship and running their own pretend diner, our youngest learners were fully engaged from start to finish. Every corner gave them a chance to explore, imagine, and try something new.
Three floors, endless curiosity, and a whole lot of fun. Safe to say… they did not want to leave.
