JHU Critical Diaspora Studies Working Group

Join us Monday (5/18) at 6pm on the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus for an event examining the state of public health and medical care in carceral systems around the world.

These advocates and researchers will share their experiences and insights to interrogate the public health crisis in global carceral contexts.

Today we celebrated our year at the Chloe Center End-of-Year Celebration and Awards Ceremony, where Dr. Aeran Chung and Vanessa Han were honored for their work on behalf of the Chloe Center. We are so grateful for all they have done and are excited for the 2026-2027 school year!

🍞Today we are highlighting Vargas Bakery!🙌Jose Vargas opened this bakery almost fifteen years ago, and has since then expanded his business to include a restuarant and a bar. He was inspired by his hometown in Huaquechula, México, which is known for its bread culture. Vargas Bakery sells a variety of cakes, breads, donuts, and sweets to the Highlandtown community, all inspired by traditional recipes. Visit Vargas Bakery at 274 S Highland Ave.
