What a gorgeous day for a sailboat ride!

Big thanks to the Living Classrooms Foundation: Maritime Education (LCF) for another fun and impactful field trip. This year, the visit started at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum in Baltimore and ended with a ride on the Chesapeake Bay aboard the Sigsbee, LCF's historic Skipjack. Charting Careers staff and scholars took in the sites while enjoying hands-on environmental STEM activities like water quality testing, navigation, and steering all designed to spark interest in bay ecology and local maritime trades and history.

We are grateful to partners like The Living Classrooms Foundation for making trips like this possible for our scholars!

A huge thanks to everyone who donated, spread the word, shared and posted during the 2026 Virtual Schooner Race!

We just raised $4,253.22 which we will use to support 10 Baltimore City College HS students on the Bay Race this October.

I love seeing this unique community come together every August during this fundraiser. LADY MARYLAND means so much to me and I am so thankful when I see folks donate, comment, like and share and generally get excited for what we are doing.

Living Classrooms has been doing this a long time and I am honored to help carry on that legacy.

Thanks for donating.
Thanks for helping us spread the word.
Thanks for supporting our students.
And as always,
FEAR THE PINK.

At the end of the 2025 season, Tall Ships America awarded Living Classrooms the Capt. Frank Bailey National Maritime Sail Training program of the Year and they recognized Captain Laura Page “Sail Trainer of the Year". While there is a huge crew at Living Classrooms that have all worked very hard to make it possible for us to be considered for this award, much of the recent credit must go to Captain LP.

Visit our fundraising page to donate and help us offer more sail training and environmental science programs to students in Baltimore City and all across Maryland and DC.

Donations accepted until Saturday at 3pm here:

Last year during the Schooner Race we invited 10 Baltimore City College HS students to sail LADY MARYLAND and we placed 2nd in the AA-class.

Our professional and student crew earned the Norfolk Rebel Education Trophy and student Salaar Stevenson received the Young Mariner Award.

This year we are raising money to support another 10 students from Baltimore City College and continue this decades long tradition where their students become fully immersed in the sailing and running of the ship alongside the professional crew.

Donations are accepted until this Saturday, August 15 at 3pm.

Today is the start of the annual Virtual Schooner Race Fundraiser!

LADY MARYLAND is “racing” to raise $5,000 to support 10 Baltimore City College HS students to join us on the Bay Race in October. Last year we raised over $8,000 and took 2nd place just behind NORFOLK REBEL. This year we hope to make a strong showing as we "race" against 12 other vessels to see who can raise the most money for their selected non-profit organization.

Donations are accepted until this Saturday, August 15 at 3pm.
