Monday, Monday! đ
The Weights and Plates athletes showed up this weekend at Eagleman 70.3! đ Check out some of our success stories below đ We are incredibly grateful for the support and race day concierge services provided by .
Coach Becky: This year was all about getting back to baseline and moving forward after a challenging 2024. Over the past 18 months, Becky has overcome two brain surgeries, a whirlwind of life and family changes, and a tough return to endurance sports marked by pneumonia, the flu, COVID, and a hip injury from inconsistent training because of all of the above. Exactly one year ago on Eagleman race day, she was in an MRI, monitoring a CSF leak. Yesterday, she crossed the finish line with a course PR of 6:05:13, perfectly hitting her âback to baselineâ goal. Huge win!
Jacob Brandt: Last year, Jacob took on Eagleman uncoached and without much of a plan. Heâs always been a strong runner but was pulled from the bike course after missing a time cutoff. This year, Jacob came back prepared. He crushed a tough swim, rode strong on the bike, and finished with a half marathon PR â after swimming 1.2 miles and biking 56! Finish time: 6:10:24. What a comeback!
Abe Lin: Abe, a solid runner, just started multi-sport training about six months ago. He was nervous about the swim but pushed through â including a whole lot of jellyfish stings â had a great ride, and finished strong on the run. Heâs now a first-time Eagleman finisher with a time of 7:16:56. Congrats, Abe! đ

Today was Coach Beckyâs first race back since 2023. It felt so good to be back out there!
Weights & Plates athlete, Jacob, also absolutely crushed his first ever Olympic triathlon. Congrats!!
Coach Beckyâs biggest win from today was being able to participate in a âCâ race just to get back into racing, without worrying about a PR. With Eagleman right around the corner, today was just a little âtune upâ - not meant to break the body!, Thatâs a huge mindset shift, but it felt really good!!
Big shout out to for the race day support and helping out with last minute Sherpa duties while Coach Nick was away!! I should have taken more photos with SET, but they bring the race day experience to a whole new level!

Spaghetti omelettes are one of our favorite breakfasts. Simple, filling, and even better with feta. Would you try a spaghetti omelette?

Swipe for the stages of running a half marathon at race pace via my facial expressions (low-photo quality, but you get the gist đ)
This was my first race back from 2 brain surgeries this year. My last race was Ironman CA last year. When I first registered for this half, my only goal was to safely go through a training block and finish the race.
At the time, I wasnât sure if that training block was going to be anything more than long slow distance runs, and I was fine with that. But as time went on, I felt pretty good and got the go-ahead for increased intensity from my neurosurgery team.
I realized I havenât trained run-only in a very long time! I absolutely love run, but it certainly isnât my strength compared to swimming and biking. I realized I havenât actually ran a half marathon that wasnât at the end of a 70.3 in a while, I could certainly hit a PR with my training paces.
I also really thought I could go sub-2 hours. But, we unfortunately were around a lot of people with pneumonia about a month out from the race. We were sick for about 2 weeks, so instead of peaking our training, we were deconditioning. (Ugh, familiar story for my races)!
Being my first race back from brain surgeries, Nick ran with me the whole time. He was great support, until about mile 12.5 when he may have gotten yelled at for how easy he was rambling on while I was digging deep đ
Being that we had been sick and missed our 2 peak weeks, I really wasnât sure what to expect. So, I started at a pace that felt appropriate. I still wanted to go sub-2, but knew it may not happen. I probably ran miles 2-4 a little too fast, but we dialed back just a tad and stayed pretty consistent for the rest of the race.
We hit 13.1 at 1:59:27, but crossed the finish line at 2:01:17. I hit a new heart rate threshold (181 - whew đ
Havenât seen that threshold since 2018)! So, you knew Iâm looking for a March or April redemption half đȘ
The course was great. It changed scenery and surfaces just enough. The post race food was the absolute best I have ever seen. The environment was great. I would absolutely come back!
