This episode is called… Our First Day!

Today was full of learning new routines. Finding our way around. Getting to know our classmates. Practicing names. Exploring new spaces. Asking questions. Sharing stories. Taking chances. And SO many smiles along the way.

Our classrooms were already buzzing with collaboration, curiosity, integrity, resilience and respect.

Day one is in the books, Stars! And what a sweet start it was.

⭐️ CELEBRATING OUR VERY OWN MR. BURKETT! ⭐️

Our very own Mr. Jesse Burkett has been selected as the City of Manchester’s 2026 “Serving Our Students” honoree! ❤️💙

If you know Mr. Burkett, you know this recognition fits him perfectly. He is a people-first leader who believes relationships come before everything else. He knows our students, shows up for our staff and families, and works every day to make sure people feel seen, valued, supported, and like they belong.

And now we get to celebrate him together!

Mr. Burkett will be recognized as part of the Manchester Homecoming Parade, and we would LOVE to fill the route with Sorrento Stars cheering him on!

Our next new Sorrento Star is Mr. Brett Bunsick, our new Math Support Specialist! ❤️💙🌟

Brett brings 15 years of teaching experience to Sorrento, including the last 10 years teaching third grade at Henry Elementary. When he’s not at school, he enjoys golfing, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time with his wife, Mara, and their two daughters. And a fun fact we definitely had to share—before becoming a teacher, Brett worked on a cruise ship! 🚢

Brett is excited to get to know our Sorrento community and help our students grow as confident mathematicians. We’re so excited to have him joining our SOR family! ⭐️

Next up, meet Ms. Paige Schulze, one of our new 4th grade LEDs! ❤️💙🌟

Paige is a recent graduate of Missouri State University and is beginning her teaching career right here at Sorrento! When she’s not at school, she loves relaxing by the pool, exercising, spending time with her three cats, and making memories with family and friends.

She is especially excited to get to know our Sorrento students and families and kick off an incredible first year! We’re so excited to have her joining our SOR family! ⭐️
