📚🚑 BACK TO SCHOOL: EMS EDITION

School is officially back, and we're sending two of our own to the classroom!

Yesterday, Explorer Isaac started EMT class while Leader Izzy starts AEMT class tonight! 👀📚

From learning the basics to taking the next step in our EMS careers, we're both going back to school and adding a few more letters behind our names. 😂

Good luck to everyone starting a new semester, especially our future EMT! We can't wait to see where this next step takes you! 💙🚑

🚨 Putting triage into practice!

Our Explorers wrapped up their MCI training with a hands-on scenario featuring real patient actors and plenty of opportunities to practice SALT triage, lifesaving interventions, scene size-up, and the different roles that keep an MCI organized. 🚑

From Incident Command to Triage, Treatment, and Transport, our Explorers got to experience how all the pieces come together when the number of patients starts to outnumber the resources available.

🚨 Triage: It’s more than just picking a color.

At our next Explorer meeting, we’ll be diving deeper into triage and what happens when there are more patients than resources. We’ll practice using the SALT Triage System while also exploring some of the tougher questions that come with mass casualty incidents—like consent, ethics, and making difficult decisions when you can’t treat everyone at once.

Come ready to think, make some tough calls, and maybe question your answer a few times. 👀

🚨 One patient is challenging... what about twenty?

Join us on the 19th as we begin learning about mass casualty incidents, the SALT Triage System, and how EMS, fire, law enforcement, dispatch, and hospitals work together to save as many lives as possible.

You'll learn how responders rapidly triage patients, why priorities change during an MCI, and how teamwork plays a critical role in these high-pressure situations.

🚨 We saved the newest for last! 🚑

Meet Leader Olivia! After recently joining Baldwin as an EMT, she didn't waste any time becoming one of our newest Explorer Leaders! From baking and binge-watching old westerns to spending time with her dog, Mayblossom, Olivia brings a great mix of enthusiasm, knowledge, and positivity to the team.

Help us give Olivia a big congratulations and a warm Baldwin welcome! We can't wait to see the impact she'll have on our Explorers. 💙👏🎉

🚑 Meet Leader Izzy!

I'm an EMT, Pre-Veterinary student, and proud Milwaukee native. When I'm not on the ambulance, I'm usually balancing school, working at the campus Dairy Farm and Kwik Trip, reading, crocheting, or spending time with my cat, Tora.

One of my favorite parts about being an Explorer Leader is watching members go from nervous at their first meeting to confidently applying the skills they've learned. I can't wait to meet even more future EMS providers this year!

Bonus fun fact: Besides teaching at meetings, I also love creating the social media posts that help share what our Explorers are up to. 📸🚑

Jess has been in EMS since 2009 and brings a wealth of experience as both a nurse and CPR, ACLS, and PALS instructor. She's passionate about teaching, loves calls that make you think, and is always happy to answer questions...
..just be prepared, because one question might turn into a 20-minute conversation. 😂💙

Every explorer has a leader cheering them on, and we're excited to introduce ours! 🚑

Meet Steve! He's a paramedic, firefighter, head of the Explorer program, and the friendly face behind many of our trainings. When he's not teaching the next generation of EMS providers, you'll probably find him watching Formula 1, traveling for work, or convincing everyone that Zofran is a GOATed medication. 😄
