Join us in the classroom, field, and at the table as you’re equipped to create beautiful and productive food systems on your own land.

Aggregate: Permaculture and Resilient Agriculture Workshop is a day long educational workshop to equip you to create flourishing food systems on your land through classroom sessions and hands on learning at the beautiful Schoen Valley Orchard. Students in the workshop learn permaculture design principles and techniques to apply to their garden, farm, or homestead, with a focus on no-till methods, organic fruit & vegetable production, and improving soil health and fertility.

Growers and consultants from Schoen Valley Farm, White Pine Berry Farm, Evergreen Farm Consulting, and Vividly Perfectly Alive bring their experience and passion into each session.

Tickets also include a local foods lunch catered by The Arbor at Young Acres.

Check out this awesome Goldenrod Crab Spider! Found it on our milkweed yesterday! It’s amazing to see the biodiversity in just one little one little patch of plants. This one’s a female (based on size), hopefully she hangs around and makes some babies.

Treasure!

This afternoon’s public land deer scouting provided two different kinds of treasure. One left the woods a better place and the other put food on my plate. Which one is most valuable? At first glance a wild edible mushroom (Chicken of the Woods - Laetiporus sulphureus ) is certainly valuable - delicious, nutritious, wild, and beautiful. But how do you value a clean ecosystem? What’s the value of escaping into the wilderness without seeing the trash of the last guy who was out there? What’s the value of creation at its purest? Whats the value of respecting and taking care of a piece of land? Most days I don’t find wild mushrooms, but I’m usually able to leave the land better than I found it and that’s just fine with me.
