Special shout-out to Tutor Extraordinaire Ian Chan! Former Valedictorian of BHS, rising sophomore at Stony Brook studying Biomedical Engineering, and a dedicated tutor at The Smart Scribe for the past few years. Ian tutors our SMARTScholars both on-site and virtually in reading, writing, math, and science. He is also an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Mario Shields Lab studying pancreatic cancer. Additionally, Ian is S3 in the Simon’s STEM Scholars program at SBU. Ian has become more than a tutor, but also a mentor to many young people he has the pleasure of working with. Eventually, Ian aspires to apply by engineering principles to healthcare. He is passionate about helping others reach their goals in their academic journey!

These SMART Scholars are working hard to prepare for their Earth Science Regents! This exam requires broad content knowledge and a good understanding of spatial reasoning, math, and relative vocabulary. Our tutors not only have mastery of the subject, but teach scholars tried and true methods to help improve comprehension, application, and ultimately test success!
