Mills, Great River, and Arkansas River Cooperative areas, along with students in Pulaski County in Arkansas.

Sandra, Carmen, Lily, and Lourdes represented the WDMESC Migrant Program this past Friday, December 13, at the Mexican Consulate Christmas celebration. Thanks to the Consulate for the invitation and their continued support and collaboration with our program.

The Migrant Education Program hosted a Regional Parent Meeting this week at Southwest Middle School in Searcy. Around 90 parents and students were present and representatives from First Security Bank, Arkansas Division of Workforce Services, and El Puente shared various resources available to our parents. Topics ranged from financial literacy to work place rights, and learning the English language. Thank you to all our speakers and a special thanks to First Security Bank for snacks and water and Searcy School District for use of their facilities.

These 10 students from around the state, along with chaperones from the Wilbur D. Mills Education Service Cooperative, recently took a trip to Washington, D. C. to participate in the Close-up program. They had a packed agenda that included Bill of Rights workshop, Mock Congress workshop, and a day at Capitol Hill, along with many others. They also enjoyed sightseeing to many of the memorials located there and participated in an election. What a wonderful experience!
