A Prayer for all Mothers

Lord,
bless our mothers with wisdom to teach and guide their
children in a way that will help them to follow You and
to become men and women who will be pleasing in Your sight.

Give all mothers the patience to deal with the difficulties, most of all, give them a special blessing as
they care so lovingly for the gifts that You have allowed them the honor of raising. Amen.

Please join me in a shout out to Daniel P. Martinez on National Principals Day 2021. Thank you for your ministry Mr. Martinez! Please take a moment to read this letter written by one of our StG students.

Do You know anybody that wears a Batman costume and drives a Bat Mobile? I do. He is our principal, Daniel Martinez. In our very own Gotham City of St. Gregory the Great he is our school’s superhero - upholding and exceeding the standard set by the Archdiocese. He teaches us religion, while leading us and helping us conquer our own problems.

Now, how does he do this? Well, he challenges us to learn new and different things everyday. At the beginning of the year, I remember him saying he was going to teach us Theology. At first I didn’t know what this meant and everything it involved. But by the end of our class, I learned so much more about our faith and how we are called to act like Jesus. Mr. Martinez is always pushing us to do our best and be a representative of Christ. He encourages us to follow our calling and use our talents for good. One thing I will always remember is his quote “Leave it all in the classroom.” I will take that wherever I go and I know my classmates will also. Principal Martinez continues to remind us to keep trying, stay the course, and we will achieve our goals.

Another great thing about our principal is that he is always open to new ideas. He is willing to listen to the suggestions of the students. I personally have pitched him many ideas and Mr. Martinez always takes the time to listen and discuss them with me. He wants to make them happen. One such idea was a pie in the face fundraiser. He was willing to be duct-taped to a wall and have pies thrown at his face. This just shows how much of a good sport he is and how he’s always willing to do anything for our school. Another example is his approval of our Thanksgiving Initiative. His blessing of this project allowed us to help families in our community. After all, this is the true spirit of a Catholic School.

His ability to lead during the time of the coronavirus pandemic exemplified true leadership skills. Despite all circumstances, he still managed to get it done with excellence. Mr. Martinez made sure that everyone was able to continue learning while keeping them safe and unharmed. Due to the pandemic, not all students were able to attend Mass in person. However, he made sure that distance learners were able to watch Mass virtually and encouraged us to participate and pray as if we were there in person.

In my opinion, there could be no better principal for our school. During a pandemic, he led us as a principal, teacher, and fellow disciple of Christ. Mr. Martinez reminded us that we are Catholics, and our faith will lead us through all things and Christ's love for us is unending. These are the values that allow you to keep hope in your hearts. So, when you visit our Gotham City, you may see our sharp-dressed principal lending a helping hand to a student, teaching a religion class, conducting a meeting, or helping out in the drive through line. But underneath the many hats he wears, you will find a man with a deep love for Christ. This, is the true definition of a superhero.

With Gratitude,
8th grade student

Greatness Awaits

Choosing a Catholic education for your children is a major decision and a tremendous sacrifice. At St. Gregory the Great, we not only appreciate that sacrifice, but we appreciate you very much. When visiting StG, you will have the opportunity to experience the warm and caring environment where the focus is educating the whole child. St. Gregory the Great is not merely a school, it is a loving family where students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and many others work together to support our mission which states, “We will nurture in our children & one another, spiritual, personal, & academic growth through prayer & Christ-like service”.

We have seen great growth in our academic offerings, technology programs, security initiatives, facilities projects and in our school branding. We have also cultivated excellence in teaching practices across grade levels by developing programs that ensure our students are succeeding academically, while developing socially, personally, and spiritually. GREAT things are happening every day at StG!

Our low student to teacher ratios affords our teachers the opportunity to provide more individualized and engaging instruction to our students, as well as to focus on all areas of development, including the social, emotional, and spiritual. Additionally, our students form closer bonds with each other that go beyond their own age groups and extend beyond their time at StG.

If you are considering a Catholic school that will continue to nurture your family’s faith and spirituality, provide you with a rigorous curriculum, and also give you a true sense of belonging, then St. Gregory the Great is the place for you.
