Alliance for Decision Education

Alliance for Decision Education The Alliance believes that better decisions lead to better lives and a better society. Informed by our success, we realized we had to do more.

In 2014, we began working with education experts to create engaging and award-winning programs that introduced decision skills to students across the country. Today, the Alliance for Decision Education is gathering education and industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, teachers, program providers, and parents from across the country to ensure Decision Education becomes a critical part of every

middle and high school student’s learning experience. We are building the field of Decision Education and creating a national movement that can, and will, make a difference in the lives of students for generations to come. Join our movement by signing our pledge: https://alliancefordecisioneducation.org/pledge.

Why did historical figures choose one course of action over another?

What information did they have, what uncertainties did they face, and what tradeoffs shaped their choices?

History is often taught through the outcomes of decisions, yet some of the greatest learning opportunities come from examining how those decisions were made. When students grapple with these questions, history becomes more than a sequence of events. It becomes an opportunity for students to develop the habits of thoughtful decision makers.

On September 22, 4-5pm EDT, join our free edWeb.net webinar for educators and education leaders, “Teaching History Through Decisions, Tradeoffs, and Uncertainty: Students as Historical Decision Makers” to explore how decision-making skills can deepen history learning and better prepare students for what’s next.

Our Education Senior Manager, Kevin Parkinson, will share practical ways to weave these strategies into what you’re already teaching, helping students navigate uncertainty, make informed choices, and connect learning to their future, without overhauling your curriculum.

Applications due soon! We are now accepting applications for schools to participate in the Decision Education Incubator: Decision-Making Across Core Curriculum.

We are excited to invite public and charter schools to apply for our innovative program where the Alliance and school teams co-design ways to integrate decision-making skills directly into existing instruction across ELA, math, science, and social studies. Rather than introducing something new, this work enhances what teachers already do.

Participating schools will receive professional learning, coaching, instructional resources, and access to the Alliance’s Decision Studio, a digital tool that helps integrate Decision Education concepts into lessons.
