It's going to be spring sometime, but maybe not until May comes. . . How about checking the stuff hanging in your closet, and see how much of the "Winter Wardrobe" did not get worn? Donate those things you can't remember wearing that are more than five years old. . . or try them on to see if they still make you feel good when you look in the mirror! If not, add them to the "donate" pile.

This ornament is almost 30 years old. For those of you who have a HUGE section of storage devoted to decorations, try letting go of a few of them that get edited from the tree this year. I disposed of about seven that had lost wheels, glitter, and had changed color over the years. Think "downsize" people!

I'm moving from the closets to the "junk bunkers" (thank you Don Aslett!) we buy to "hide" our stuff. My number one "sounds like a good idea" is (drum roll, please. . ) the OTTOMAN. https://www.pier1.com/products/julia-storage-ottoman?variant=35877391990951 This is like a toy chest. Remember those? You put all the child's toys in it, and they're all jumbled around. When your child wants to play with a toy truck that's sitting on the bottom, what happens? Everything has to be taken out of the toy chest to get to it. And the bigger the chest is, the longer it takes. See these hangers on the floor? It you've got a mish-mash like this in your closet, chances are you have clothes on the floor with the dust bunnies, and lots of wasted space, because you don't put silky tank tops on coat hangers. I'll bet a lot of your things in there are wrinkled from being smashed together. Hang (pun intended) in there, and stay with me for a few more posts, and in the end, you'll be able to pull clothes out of the closet in ready-to-wear condition.

Over the years, I've found five things most people have in common: do you do these? 1. Tossing things on the kitchen counter. 2. Throwing everything in the closet to hide it. 3. Piling your clothes on a chair (how about the closet or the hamper instead?).
4. Leaving shoes all over the place (do they migrate while you're asleep?. 5.Bringing home stuff with no place to put it (attic, garage and basement are not "places" for these things; you're supposed to have a place for everything you USE, so you can find it). SO HOW DID YOU DO?

Category 5 of 5. Holding onto beat-up, stained, or really unpresentable stuff that you just wear when you're dying your hair, or cleaning your house, or staying home during a pandemic. It's OK for a couple of these things, but pick a number, and don't exceed it.

Category 4 of 5: How many iterations of the "basics" do you have? Do you really need a half dozen "little black dresses?" Generally, you usually wear your favorite, and the other ones are just sitting there. Put them out in the universe and make them a blessing to somebody else who will actually WEAR them.
