Rita and Kathy Cavell (our family name is Gravina) are mother and daughter music professionals. After years of studying and performing in the theatre and nightclubs in the 1940's and 50's, Rita decided to settle down and raise a family. In the year 1958 with two children, and one (Kathy) on the way, Rita opened the studio with 4 students and quickly the studio became a thriving business on the mai

n line. At Cavell Music we have had the the opportunity to meet and teach literally thousands of students; from accomplished singers to people who come simply for the love of music. Throughout the years the studio has brought entertainment in the form of variety shows to countless venues, including dinner theaters, nightclubs, nursing homes, hospitals and prisons. Many of our current students are the children and grandchildren of former students.

I had so much fun working with Gillian on this performance of the comedic "Adelaide's" Lament" from Guys and Dolls. Gillian is going off to college now to make the world a better place. Take a piece of the studio with you and keep in touch!!!🤧😷🤒😂😍❤️

Lena is just a ray of sunshine!! She brings a smile to my face and lights up my evening during her lesson. We have tackled a few genres of music this year, but I think she has just the right voice for this standard. Please enjoy “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”

Here’s Ivy!! Ivy worked hard on Flying Henry as it is the longest and most difficult song we have tackled yet. We rushed to get it recorded beef she goes off for summer. I’ll miss her until September. Nice work, Ivy!!

Hunter chose this song for his school talent show. We rushed to record it the day before the show as he was leaving for the summer. I am looking forward to working with him again in the Fall as he has a beautiful voice, memorizes songs in a minute and turns me on to all the new tunes he finds online. This one is quite lovely and appropriate as Spring was ending and Summer beginning.

Carter is an example of what I love most about teaching. He came to me only wanting to sing “Metal” and presently his repertoire includes Sinatra, Cash, Disney, Broadway Show tunes and now Charles Aznavour… and in French yet!! (that’s Charlie barking in the background)
