August is National Wellness month, which focuses on self-care and starting healthy routines.

Try some of these healthy habits this month to help you work toward a healthier lifestyle:
- Drink more water 💧
- Stretch or try yoga 🧘‍♂️
- Cut back on added sugar and choose healthier snacks 🥜🫐
- Set a bedtime to help you get 8 hours of sleep 🛌
- Go on a walk (or a run) 🏃🏽‍♀️
- Take a few minutes every day to check in with yourself and see how you are feeling
Make sure to check with your doctor before beginning any exercise routine, and stop if you feel any pain.

🍉 Watermelon, strawberries, oranges, pineapples, cantaloupes, etc.
🥒 Cucumbers, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, zucchinis, bell peppers, etc.
🧉Fruit smoothies, coconut water, homemade iced tea, etc.

Don’t forget that all of these food items are SNAP-eligible! If you have any questions about SNAP in North Carolina, contact the More In My Basket team toll-free at 1-855-240-1451.

Write down or print out recipes you find online, or save them all in a file on your phone or computer. Having recipes on hand makes cooking much more enjoyable, because it takes away the stress of having to remember what your family likes!

Blackberries, blueberries, and peaches are all in season in NC in July, meaning they will be more available and cheaper than at other times! 🫐🍑
Try mixing all three of these together for a quick and tasty fruit salad, or blend them up with some milk or unsweetened Greek yogurt for a yummy summer smoothie!
