After 13 years in an elementary classroom and 15 years as Elementary Principal in the Bakersfield R-IV School District, Mr. Brian Hollis has announced his retirement. We thank Mr. Hollis for his dedication and years of service to our kids and community. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Hollis has played an instrumental role in safety and security of our campus as well as the thorough training for elementary teachers on the science of reading. Mr. Hollis will be missed. Bakersfield R-IV School District extends a thankful heart to Mr. Hollis for his years of dedicated service, and best wishes for all the new adventures that await!

Bakersfield R-IV School District is proud to welcome Mrs. Melissa Hayes as Elementary Principal beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Mrs. Hayes has served our district as the Assistant Principal for three years, working primarily in the middle and high school building. Before coming to Bakersfield, Mrs. Hayes served as an assistant principal at West Plains Elementary School after moving from Oklahoma where she served as an elementary teacher and principal. Mrs. Hayes graduated from Gainesville High School and is an Ozark County native with deep roots in the area.

Mrs. Hayes and her husband RO have two daughters, Massey and Madeline, who attend Bakersfield High School. In her spare time, Mrs. Hayes enjoys being outside, working on the family farm, playing golf with her family and helping her husband run their small family business.

We look forward to seeing Mrs. Hayes transition into this new role!

Special shout out and BIG THANK YOU to PTO, FFA sponsor Jordan Grigg with student Eli Cotter, Jason Marsh, Greg Cotter and Brandon Cotter! The outdoor classroom space and lunch area will be so nice and students will love having a covered place to have lunch, learn, and enjoy being outside! Thank you!!!
