Future Healthcare Leaders in Action!🤲
Our Evening Medical Students had an incredible evening with Kern Medical! 🩺✨ The event included hands-on simulation activities like Code Blue, PALS, intubation demos, and even drunk driving goggles to give students a real-world look at healthcare skills.
They also heard from a panel of Kern Medical professionals; including physicians, a nurse, a pharmacist, and the Director of Clinical Laboratory Services; who shared insights about their careers and answered student questions. Students left inspired, informed, and ready to explore their future in healthcare! 💉👩⚕️👨⚕️

What an incredible day at the Kern County Career & STEM Expo! 🎉
We were proud to welcome over 3,400 students who had the opportunity to explore more than 100 hands-on exhibits, sparking curiosity and inspiring future career pathways in STEM and beyond.
A huge thank you to Chevron, KCSOS, and all of our amazing sponsors; this event truly would not have been possible without your generous support and commitment to our students and community.

Magic Behind the Scenes ✨
ROC Cosmetology had the honor of participating in the Kern Down Syndrome Network’s Once Upon a Runway ✨ Our students brought the magic to life by creating stunning hair and makeup looks and helping design props for the show.
This experience gave them the chance to build real-world skills, work as a team, and gain hands-on experience in a live event setting; boosting both their confidence and creativity. We’re so proud of their talent and growth! 💄👑

Law Enforcement in Action!⭐️
Our Law Enforcement students had an action-packed day at the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Academy Experience! 🚔 About 150 students rotated through hands-on stations led by deputies, exploring areas like Crime Scene Investigation, Air Unit, Dispatch, SWAT, Park Rangers, and the Bomb Squad.
From analyzing a simulated crime scene to checking out helicopters, learning 911 dispatch skills, and seeing specialized equipment up close, students got a real look at the many paths within law enforcement. The day wrapped up with group training, lunch, and an exciting K-9 demonstration; showcasing just how diverse and dynamic the Sheriff’s Office truly is. .o.c_lawenforcement

The Bakersfield Car Club Council hosted its 28th Annual SuperCruise Car Show at the Kern County Fairgrounds alongside the Sportsman’s Boat & RV Show 🚗🔥
15 Automotive Technology students stepped up to help direct traffic and register vehicles, while Vet Tech students promoted their program and helped spread the word about the upcoming 2nd Annual Wags & Wheels Car Show on May 2nd at the ROC supporting the Bakersfield Animal Care Center 🐾
With a prime vendor spot right in front of the stage, our Auto Tech students also had the honor of judging and presenting two Top 100 awards. Attendees loved seeing students involved, sparking great conversations about custom builds and careers in automotive technology.
From showcasing student vehicles to connecting with industry professionals, it was a successful day full of hands-on experience, networking, and passion for the automotive world 🙌

Celebrating our amazing bus drivers this Bus Driver Appreciation Day at ROC CTEC! 🚌💙
Our Ambassadors put together special goodie bags filled with ROC Bakery cookies, chips, Dewar’s Chews, and gum; plus a personalized note to thank them for all they do. We also handed out extra cookies and mints for the evening routes.
Our bus drivers are so much more than transportation; they are often the first and last smile our students see each day. They play a vital role in creating a safe, reliable, and welcoming start and end to every student’s day, helping set the tone for success in and out of the classroom.

Exploring Neurorehabilitation 🧠
CTEC's Intro to Health students visited the Centre for Neuro Skills, where they explored the world of neurorehabilitation and learned how specialized care supports patients recovering from brain injuries.
Through hands-on learning and engaging discussions, students discovered the wide range of professionals involved; from therapists to medical staff, and saw firsthand how teamwork plays a critical role in recovery. The experience provided meaningful insight into real-world healthcare settings and inspired many students to consider future careers in the field.

ROC Digital Marketing students played a key role at this year’s Job Fest! 📸
Students provided free LinkedIn headshots for attendees while also managing the official Job Fest social media accounts throughout the event. Through their content, marketing and coverage, the team helped the Job Fest Instagram account reach an incredible 10,000 followers! ⭐️
This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their skills in content creation, social media management, and digital marketing in a real-world event setting.

Fashion in Action!🪡⭐️
ROC Fashion Merchandising volunteered at the Revive the Runway fashion show held at World Records in collaboration with In Your Wildest Dreams. ✨
Students supported the event while gaining valuable hands-on experience in fashion show production, styling, and event coordination, all while connecting with the local fashion community.
A special congratulations to Joecelyn Gomez, who earned First Place in the Beginner category and the Viewer’s Choice Award at the event! 👏
Opportunities like this allow our students to apply their classroom skills in real-world settings and gain meaningful industry experience.

Last weekend, ROC hosted the Industrial Technologies Skills Challenge (ITSC), bringing together students from multiple local high schools to showcase their skills in hands-on competitions. 🔧⚙️
Participants demonstrated real-world abilities in trades like welding, construction, and automotive technology; highlighting the value of Career Technical Education in preparing students for high-demand careers, certifications, college, and the workforce. Top competitors were recognized with medals, trophies, and exciting prizes related to their field. 🏅
