As the Spring 2026 semester comes to a close, we want to remind you that we're here for more than just your classes! We have an online "Get Out the Vote" guide that is designed to aid you in knowing where and when to vote in the upcoming state primary election, and also in making informed decisions by knowing how to do research on the candidates.

The election is three weeks from today, on Tuesday, June 2nd. All ballots must be dropped off at a ballot box location or postmarked in the mail by this date.

Next Monday, May 18th, is the deadline for registering to vote online; any registrations between that and Primary Election Day will need to be done in person at the County Clerk's office, or at your nearest polling place on Election Day itself.

In conjunction with at Bakersfield College, and in support of Mental Health Awareness Month, your nearest BC campus library has arranged for a variety of relaxing events to take place this week, and we're also keeping you encouraged with our newest book displays! Happy and this week! Across the BC campus libraries, we've put together an assortment of books related to environmentalism, ecology, plant and animal life, and everything else in the natural world. Come visit your nearest campus today!

This April marks the 30th anniversary of National Poetry Month, as organized annually by the Academy of American Poets. Stop by the BC Libraries and, in addition to some old classic favorites, you may discover some exciting new poets you've never heard of before! You can also try your hand at creating some poetry of your own via our main campus library's fun Post-It Note Poetry Door!

Happy Arab American Heritage Month from our Delano and Panorama campus libraries! If you're in the area, please stop by for a visit to explore our book collection and work on some fun jigsaw puzzles. Also take note that our Muslim Student Association will be hosting an Eid al-Fitr celebration on Thursday, April 9, to mark the upcoming end of Ramadan! This event will be held in the Delano campus library's exhibit room from 10 AM to 2 PM, and will include a variety of great art, poetry, food, and raffle prizes!
