Did You Know? 📚

Children who read just 15-20 minutes a day are exposed to millions more words each year than children who rarely read. That daily habit helps build stronger vocabulary, improves reading comprehension, and supports long-term academic success.

I do. We do. You do. 📐

After learning how to find missing angles with their tutor, our student took the lead and taught the lesson back. Teaching is one of the best ways to reinforce learning and build confidence!

When teaching, give students time to think. Present a challenge, then allow a moment of silence for reflection. That pause is where critical thinking develops, far more effectively than simply giving students the answer.

We are pleased to announce the Kern Tutoring Scholarship Endowment for Future Teachers at CSUB Department of Teacher Education (CSUB). We encourage all community members in donating to the wendoment. Your contribution will directly support a student pursuing a teaching credential at CSUB. Thank you!

Kern Tutoring is donating $25,000 over five years to CSUB to establish the Kern Tutoring Scholarship Endowment for Future Teachers, which will serve students who are pursuing a teaching credential at the university.

The scholarships, the first of which is expected to be awarded this fall, are intended to support first-generation college students from low-income households.

“What we are doing with this scholarship is really formalizing how we support student teachers,” said Kern Tutoring Founder and Executive Director Dr. Gustavo Luna. “If we can reduce the burden of expenses, even for one semester, that’s a win. That means they’re not as worried about their financial needs and they can really focus on being the best educator they can be.”
