1st Place: Elizabeth Heckathron
Presented: "Burnout by Design: How Teaching Structures Shape Teacher Well-Being" 🏆

2nd Place: Madison Guerrero
Presented: "The Gap Doesn't Close Itself: What 23 Year of Data Tells Us About Inequity" 🏅

Both represented CSUB at the 2026 CSU Grad Slam: 3 Minute Thesis Competition! Madison Guerrero had made it to the final round during that competition! 📖

🎓✨ PROFILE 🎓✨

Mario Enriguez is graduating with master's degree in health care administration! Enriguez saw firsthand the health care disparities that many face while growing up in Shafter.

He graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2024, with plans to pursue a career in the medical field as a clinician, but interning at Kaiser Permanente in Bakersfield set him on a different trajectory.

“I think what really opened my mind to it was that I realized that health care workers often run into barriers that are out of their control,” he said. “Yes, you can do incredible work directly with patients, but too often the system limits what they can accomplish. I realized that if I moved into an administrative role, I could help break down those barriers.”

After being encouraged to enroll in a Master of Science in Health Care Administration (MS-HCA) and applied at CSUB. He will now graduate this month with his degree!
