OK, topic today is dog parks. I miss the Marina! Closest thing we have to wide open, natural space is the Kern River bed. But there's no water in the river :(

Whether you've lived in Berkeley or not, there is a certain mindset that can only be experienced in that city. Bakersfield may seem like it's on the other side of the planet, although it's only 4 hours away. But there are still little bits and pieces of Berkeley that can be found here in Bakersfield.
Bakersfield places that have a Berkeley feel: Dagny's, Moo Creamery, Valentien Restaurant and Wine Bar , the farmers' market, Oleander, Lassen's, parts of downtown - especially where the train gangs (runaways) hang out with their dogs, dreds and backpacks.
Who's a Cal alum in Bakersfield? I see those license plate frames here and there - I know you're out there!
When I miss Berkeley Bowl, I go to Trader Joe's. Love those little carts!
I'm sure going to miss all this rain when it ends. It's so ... Berkeley.
