About the Program
The Bakersfield College Paramedic Education Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Successful completion of the program qualifies students for licensure testing with the National Registry of EMT’s as an EMT-Paramedic in the State of California.

The Program is divided into three phases: didactic, clinical and field training. The program is comprised of no less than 1090 hours.

The required minimum hourly breakdown is as follows:

450 didactic hours (390 didactic/classroom hours, 60 didactic skills lab hours)
160 clinical hours
480 field training hours (approximately forty 12-hour shifts)
Upon successful completion of the Paramedic Program, students are eligible to take the National Registry EMT-P examination for licensure as a Paramedic.
