TO PURCHASE: Please visit https://www.etsy.com/shop/HoofByCraig to purchase the Hoof Measurement Tool.

DIRECTIONS: The Hoof Measurement Tool (HMT) is an easy to use gauge designed to quickly and easily assess heel height, dorsal angles, as well as the descending coronary band hairline angle for the average to extra-large horse. It allows the trimmer to quickly assess heel heights for average and extra large horses, average front (48º) and rear (58º) dorsal angles and toe length (3 1/4"), as well as viewing the descending coronary hairline through a 30º window.

Like any tool, the HMT is most useful in the hands of an educated practitioner. Although the HMT is based on certain average measurements, some individual horses will vary based on conformation, height, weight, breed, etc. Understanding hoof mechanics, wear patterns, and being able to “read” a hoof will help any trimmer use the HMT accurately. If you are not familiar with the ABC HoofPrint Trim method, I encourage you to visit www.abchoofcare.com, purchase the Training Manual and study it before beginning to trim. After all, any tool is only as good as the person utilizing it. Information about Cheryl’s page as well as videos and educational clinics is also available on her website.

For directions on how to use the HMT, please view the photos below. Several sample photo galleries are also available on the photos tab.
