“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning.
Play is really the work of childhood.” – Fred Rogers (14) Large Family Daycare now accepting children from ages 3 to 10 years.

We had our annual field trip this morning, we went to calm zoo and to the water splash park. It was a fun, busy, hot day for the kids and us. Thank you to cccc and calm zoo for having us over. Building more memories with the kids and a stronger bond amongst them is priceless.

I wanted to share our new cups for our kids, I’m sure they will enjoy them. We wanted to make it simple when it came to keeping the entire cup in one piece and not loosing the top. They will all have their names on them and a shape to help them identify their own cup. I spent my morning using my cricut to complete my task. 🤩

This seems like an awesome idea for older children to experiment for a 2 day summer farm camp. 🐷🐓🐖🐮🚜🌾🧑🌾👩🌾👩🌾

Having random conversations with the kids while they have their snack. Yesterday’s topic was insects since they learned about them during the week. I enjoy hearing them share their imaginations. They are all so different and cute. 🐛🕷️🐜🪳🪲🐞🦟🦋🫶🏻 Segura Sandra Family Child Care

🙌🏼💕
You know that moment when you’ve said it nicely three times…
“Come put your shoes on.”
“Shoes, please.”
“Okay, I need you to get your shoes now.”
And your child looks right at you… then keeps playing.
Instant trigger.
Because it doesn’t just feel like they didn’t hear you.
It feels like they heard you and chose not to care.
Before you yell, try this:
Walk over.
Get low.
Say their name gently.
Touch their shoulder if they’re okay with that.
Then say:
“Hey, I’m not going to keep calling from across the room. It’s time for shoes. Do you want to do them by yourself, or do you want my help?”
If they still ignore you:
“I can see stopping is hard. I’m going to help you now.”
Then calmly follow through.
Not louder.
Not meaner.
Just closer, calmer, and clearer.
Because yelling from the kitchen usually turns into a power struggle.
Getting close turns the moment into guidance.
Save this for the next time you feel your voice getting louder.
