🎬 REWIND THE REEL: Senior to Freshman Edition ❤️🖤

Today, our freshmen had the opportunity to sit down with our seniors for some REAL talk and REAL advice—from students who look like them, have walked the same halls, faced similar challenges, and are still learning and growing themselves.

From mistakes and friendships to opportunities and success, our seniors shared the things they wish they knew as freshmen.

Sometimes the best advice comes from someone who’s been exactly where you are.

Same school. Different journeys. Brighter futures.

Something powerful is happening in the City of Baker, and our children deserve to have their story told.

The City of Baker School Board selected and invited Helix Community Schools into a partnership to support the academic transformation of Baker High School and Park Ridge Achievement Academy. We did not arrive in Baker on our own. We were chosen to partner in this work, and I want to personally thank the City of Baker School Board for giving our team the opportunity to serve the children, families, teachers, and community of Baker.

One year later, the results are speaking.

The City of Baker is the number one growth school system in the state of Louisiana for overall Mastery and Above improvement.

Number one in Louisiana.

That accomplishment should not be diminished, overlooked, or passed over quickly. It should be celebrated because our children earned it.

Across the City of Baker, the percentage of students achieving Mastery and above increased from 10.3 percent to 15.6 percent, a 5.3 percentage point increase.

In ELA, Mastery and above increased from 15.9 percent to 24 percent.
