If you are planning to show sheep or goats this school year, the deadline to order validation tags is coming up quickly. Tag orders and money are due to Mr. Baker by Wednesday, August 19th. We will discuss more about showing and raising livestock at our Burger Bash meeting on the 17th.

Volunteer/Food Donation Requested!

According to the Texas FFA website, "Successful FFA chapters understand that success is the result of planning carefully, then carrying out the plans. They organize their plans through a written Program of Activities (POA) that defines chapter goals, establishes functioning committees and outlines the steps students will take to meet the goals. The POA must be tailored to meet the unique needs of the local chapter, members and community."

This year Texas FFA is requiring every FFA chapter in the state to have and submit a POA to the state office to remain in good standing. It is the duty of the chapter officer team along with the help of the advisors to create the POA. Next week, July 27-29, the Baird FFA Chapter Officer team will be meeting each day from 12:00-2:00 PM to work on the chapter's POA. For most of these students this time is right in between athletic workout and band making it for a pretty full day.

If there are any individuals or groups that might be interested in feeding our students and advisors any of these three days, we would be grateful! There is a total of 11 of us. If you are interested in helping feed our team as they are hard at work, feel free to reach out to us on Facebook or contact Mr. Baker at [email protected].

We have a TON of exciting opportunities to discuss. Our hope is that every student enrolled in an agriculture science class is able to attend with their parents/guardians. We are excited to be adding AgMechanics this year that will give students opportunities to build projects and take them to compete at stock shows all over Texas.

We are excited to share that our Baird Livestock Association will be serving a pancake breakfast before the Bear Midnight Madness practice on Sunday, August 2nd! Donations are welcome. All earnings will help support Baird FFA and 4H kiddos. Come out and have some pancakes and then watch our football team have the first practice of the year at midnight!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Our first FFA meeting of the year will be on Monday, August 17th. We will be holding our first ever Baird FFA Back to School Burger Bash! All students enrolled in and agricultural science class will be invited along with their families. We will discuss opportunities in FFA, AG Mechanics, and Showing Livestock. The Baird Junior Livestock Association will be there to discuss fundraising opportunities as well. We hope to see everyone there!
