Friends of Sandhill

Friends of Sandhill Sandhill Wildlife Area and Refuge A 9,000 acre wildlife area managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The walk-in gate is always open.

Started in the 1930s as a game farm by Wallace Grange, the state of Wisconsin purchased the property in the 1960s to be managed as a wildlife area and a wildlife demonstration area. The goal was to focus use of the property on education and research. A self-guided auto tour winds through the property and is open to the public from April through October. The Outdoor Skills center offers educational programs for all ages.
