At APU, computer science is more than code. It’s about purpose. Students are equipped to solve real-world problems while thinking deeply about how their work serves others.
“Faith is a key part of everything that we do,” said Bradley McCoy, PhD, chair and professor in the Department of Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, and Statistics. “The real work of a computer scientist is helping determine not just what we can do, but what we should do in a way that’s really ethical and beneficial for people.”

We had an amazing time welcoming over 190 youth leaders and middle and high school students to our campus for our fourth annual Kaleo Youth Conference!
Hosted by APU's Institute for Faith, Leadership, and Service, the conference was themed "Rooted in Love," based on Ephesians 3:14-21. Students enjoyed dynamic worship led by ONE HOUSE, participated in 18 workshops, heard compelling messages from Noemi Chavez (lead pastor of Revive Church) and Sean Fenner (co-lead pastor of Light and Life Christian Fellowship), and celebrated a day filled with fun games and food together.

At APU, studying biological sciences is a deeply personal exploration of God's creation, where small class sizes create space for genuine academic and spiritual mentorship. Through hands-on laboratory experiences and independent research projects typically reserved for graduate students, undergraduates develop the critical thinking skills needed to transform their passion into a meaningful career in medicine, biotechnology, scientific research, or conservation.
“APU’s biological sciences program gave me individualized mentorship thanks to small classes and professors who were genuinely interested in my growth and success,” said Debbie Hussey ’18.

After tragically losing her infant daughter to a rare neurological disease, APU alumna Lesa Brackbill ’05, MA ’24, turned her profound grief into a life-saving mission by successfully advocating for crucial newborn screening legislation in Pennsylvania. Lesa's relentless dedication has already spared other families from the same heartbreak and saved newborn lives, beautifully demonstrating the impact of channeling personal loss into a legacy of hope.
“In times of uncertainty, especially in rare disease advocacy, we need to take our losses and channel them into a legacy for kids who can’t do it themselves.”
