For Kendra Delahooke MFT ’16, LMFT, helping children heal starts with understanding the whole family. As founder and CEO of Child Therapy Center (CTC), Kendra is redefining mental health care through neuroscience-informed therapy to help children and families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and discover hope through healing. She aims to build upon the impact the centers have had at the two locations in LA by expanding CTC across the nation.

“Something that fuels me equally to psychology is business development,” Kendra said. “Everyone who becomes a therapist wants to help people. Business skills can help therapists reach a larger audience.”

After tragically losing her infant daughter to a rare neurological disease, APU alumna Lesa Brackbill ’05, MA ’24, turned her profound grief into a life-saving mission by successfully advocating for crucial newborn screening legislation in Pennsylvania. Lesa's relentless dedication has already spared other families from the same heartbreak and saved newborn lives, beautifully demonstrating the impact of channeling personal loss into a legacy of hope.

“In times of uncertainty, especially in rare disease advocacy, we need to take our losses and channel them into a legacy for kids who can’t do it themselves.”
