What a wonderful summer it has been at Wildflower Academy! ☀️

Our little nature explorers have been making the most of every adventure these past few months. We’ve searched for insects, splashed in the creek, discovered wildflowers, cared for our farm animals, created nature-inspired art, and spent countless hours learning through play in the great outdoors.

This summer also brought some exciting new additions to our classroom family! 🐸🐍 We welcomed a tiny pet tree frog and a beautiful California Kingsnake. The children have loved observing them, learning about their habitats, discussing what makes reptiles and amphibians different, and watching them thrive with proper care. They have already become favorite members of our Wildflower Academy family!

As much fun as summer has been, we’re getting excited for the return of our fall semester. With cooler weather and our longer school days, we’ll have even more time for hiking, nature studies, science discoveries, farm chores, creative projects, story time under the trees, and all of the hands-on learning that makes Wildflower Academy so special.

Thank you to all of our wonderful families for making this summer one filled with curiosity, laughter, muddy boots, and unforgettable memories. We are counting down the days until we can welcome everyone back for another amazing year of outdoor adventures!

See you soon, Wildflower friends! 🌻

If you are looking for a Church home in the area please feel free to visit my own little country Church!

I run and teach the children’s ministry so your littles would be in wonderful hands. 😊

Our service begins at 10:00am with families together through announcements, prayer requests, praise reports, worship music, and a short children’s message.

After, the children and I head for our Sunday school room down the hall. Parents are invited to stop in at any time!

Every other Monday we will be having a playgroup to fellowship and make friendships with any mom wishing for the same! Please RSVP: [email protected] if you would like to join us. :)

Have a wonderful week! 🤍

And that’s a wrap for our 2025-2026 natureschool class school year for a total of 23 children (brought on different days). 🌻🪻
Silas’ family has sent two sons through my natureschool already and I’ll see their third in about 2-3 years! So fun. I love getting to work with families long term. I get to know their families so well! 💛

During our year, we added more animals to our farmschooling experience. Miniature horses, another pig, another turkey, a new breed of ducks (Welsh Harlequin ducklings), brooder project chicks to make darker blue and green eggs, a goose, kittens, etc.

Time for 4 hour days now for summer camp beginning next week. 😎 ☀️
18 kids total for both June and July! Please pray that we have a safe and joy filled summer. Thank you!

It’s the end of our school year for our Thursday natureschool class!

Some of my students are moving on to private schools for Kinder and 1st grade in the fall and my oh my, after years of having them here that’s hard!
They’re known so well by me. I know who is talking without looking. Their likes, dislikes, dreams. I can name it in a second.
They’re precious to me as are their mamas who I’ve gotten to know so well.
Onward and upward, little farmer babies! I hope the hiking and farming love never leave your little souls and I get to visit your farms one day!

Our Tuesday class also brought some precious gifts, but they’ll return for summer camp and/or fall semester!

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers during Teacher Appreciation Week! 🌿

Your kindness truly brightened my day. One of the greatest joys of natureschool is getting to learn, explore, and grow alongside your children each week. Thank you for sharing them with me and for being such a meaningful part of our Wildflower Academy community. 🌼

We are learning so much while engaging with nature.

We are playing in the rain today!
Rain turns the world into a sensory playground and a tiny risk lab.

* Sensory integration: Cold drops, squishy ground, wet clothes! Their nervous system is learning to process it all without overload.
* Resilience & adaptability: “I can still have fun even when things aren’t perfect” is a powerful life script.
* Body awareness & coordination: Slippery surfaces force balance, careful steps, quick adjustments
* Scientific thinking: Cause and effect in real time. Splash = ripple, stomp = bigger splash
* Emotional regulation: Letting go of discomfort and choosing joy anyway!

We are having party play for the facilitator (this is a favorite activity of the boys)!
This is social intelligence!

* Social skills & communication: Taking turns, assigning roles, negotiating who’s the host or guest
* Theory of mind: Understanding others have thoughts and feelings different from their own
* Language development: Storytelling, new vocabulary, expressive speech
* Planning & sequencing: “First we set the table, then we serve…”
* Creativity & symbolic thinking: A stick becomes a candle, mud becomes cake

We are making mud pies with friends!
This is basically STEM. Just a smidge messier!

* Fine motor skills: Scooping, shaping, patting, decorating
* Problem-solving: “Too dry… needs more water” is early engineering
* Early math concepts: Measuring, portions, comparing sizes
* Imaginative play: Transforming raw materials into something meaningful
* Connection to nature: Understanding textures, soil, water, and how they interact
