🌾🐴 Learning looks a little different around here… and we LOVE it! 🐐🚜

This morning, GotOptions families traded at home lessons for the farm during our field trip to Wildwood Farms in Conway! ❤️

Our students had the opportunity to get outside, explore farm life, interact with farm animals and zoo animals, learn about each animal, and—maybe most importantly—spend the morning making memories with their homeschool friends.

One of our favorite things about homeschooling is remembering that education doesn’t have to happen behind a desk. Sometimes the best lessons happen with muddy shoes, curious questions, animals nearby, and friends learning right alongside you. 🌱

And that’s a big part of what we love about the GotOptions community. We aren’t just here to provide accountability—we want to give our families opportunities to connect, explore, learn, and build friendships together.

A huge thank you to Wildwood Farms for welcoming our group and giving our families such a fun morning! 💚 And Thank you to Tasia Clark for putting this field trip together for our families 💜

🌊🐬 Who says school has to happen at a desk? 🐙🦈

On Friday, October 2, GotOptions families traded textbooks and classrooms for an unforgettable day of learning out on the Atlantic Ocean!

Our families joined the crew of Crazy Sister Marina for an educational excursion where students got to experience marine science in the best way possible — up close and in real life!

🐬 We spotted several pods of bottlenose dolphins swimming in their natural habitat.
🐙 We learned about fascinating sea creatures like octopuses and sharks.
🦪 We discovered how oysters serve as a natural filtration system and help keep our coastal waters healthy.
🌊 And, of course, we got to enjoy a beautiful day learning together on the water!

This is one of our favorite things about homeschooling: learning doesn’t have to stay inside four walls. The ocean can be the classroom. A boat can become a science lab. And a Friday can turn into a lesson your children will remember for years.

At GotOptions Home Educators Association, we love creating opportunities for our homeschool families to learn, explore, build friendships, and make memories together.

GotOptions members enjoyed a fun day of swimming, gaming, eating, paddling, mini golfing and sliding into the 2026/27 School Year at Lakewood Camping Resort yesterday!!! Such a fun day! Thank you to Robby and all the staff at Lakewood for always making our group feel welcome!!

😂 HOMESCHOOL PARENTS… OUR TIME HAS COME.

Public schools are heading back next week, which means homeschoolers are about to enter one of our favorite seasons of the year…

✨ THE PLACES ARE EMPTY AGAIN SEASON. ✨

The libraries? 📚 Ours again.

The playgrounds? 🛝 Wide open.

The museums? 🏛️ We can actually see the exhibits.

The parks? 🌳 Peaceful.

The nature centers? 🦋 Field trip time!

The beach on a Tuesday morning? 🏖️ Yes, please.

And don’t even get us started on grocery shopping at 10:30 on a Wednesday morning. 😂

One of the sweetest perks of homeschooling is remembering that learning doesn’t have to happen inside four walls—or between 8:00 and 3:00.

The whole community can become our classroom.

So, South Carolina homeschool families…

📚 Is Your Student Registered for the New School Year?

South Carolina’s compulsory-attendance law requires parents or guardians to ensure that children of compulsory-school age are enrolled in a legal educational option. This may include:

🏫 Public school
🏫 Private school
🏠 A legally compliant homeschool option

Families should have their student’s educational plan in place by the first day of school in the public school district where they reside.

🍎 What about kindergarten?

A child who turns five on or before September 1 is considered compulsory-attendance age for that school year.

However, if the child will not be six years old on or before September 1, the parent may choose not to enroll the child in kindergarten. To do this legally, the parent must complete a written kindergarten waiver through the public school district in which the family resides.

Simply keeping a kindergarten-age child home without registering for an educational option or completing the proper waiver may not satisfy South Carolina’s attendance requirements.

If you plan to homeschool, make sure your association membership is active before your zoned district’s first day of school.

📚 Happy National Book Lovers Day! 📚

Today, we’re celebrating the books that spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and take our children on adventures without ever leaving home.

Reading can happen anywhere—curled up on the couch, beneath a shady tree, at the library, or even as a family read-aloud during breakfast. That’s one of the beautiful things about homeschooling: we can encourage a love of learning in ways that work best for our children. 💙
