⚡️ What a great way to kick off the 2026-2027 school year at Ayden-Grifton High School!

It was great having WCTI News 12 on campus this morning to help capture the excitement of our first day of school and highlight our Charger Family.

Our students had a great first day back, and it was exciting to see our hallways and classrooms filled again with learning, relationships, and Charger Pride. A successful first day does not happen by accident, and we are thankful for our faculty and staff who worked hard to make sure our students were welcomed, supported, and ready for a strong start.

We have a lot to be proud of and even more to look forward to this year. Day 1 is in the books, and our Relentless Pursuit of Excellence is officially underway!

⚡️ A GREAT FIRST DAY TO BE A CHARGER! ⚡️

The 2026-2027 school year is officially underway at Ayden-Grifton High School!

Today was about more than simply returning to school. It was about reconnecting as a Charger Family, welcoming new students and staff, establishing our B.O.L.T. expectations, and setting the tone for the year ahead.

We are incredibly proud of the energy throughout our classrooms and hallways today. Thank you to our students for starting strong, our staff for the countless hours of preparation that made today possible, and our families for your continued support and partnership.

Last year showed us what is possible when our entire school community works together. This year, we are ready to build on that momentum as we continue A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence in everything we do.

Day 1 is in the books. Now, let’s make every day count!

⚡🐎 CHARGER FAMILIES — IT’S TIME! 🐎⚡

Tomorrow begins the 2026–2027 school year at Ayden-Grifton High School! We are excited to welcome our Chargers back on Monday, August 24 as we begin another year focused on A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence!

🕣 SCHOOL DAY: 8:30 AM–3:35 PM

Here are a few important reminders to help everyone have a safe and successful first week:

📚 FIRST DAY & SCHEDULES
Students will report to Advisory/Homeroom first thing Monday morning and will receive an updated copy of their schedule.

The deadline for eligible schedule correction requests is Wednesday, August 26 at 3:35 PM. Requests should be submitted at:

There is no separate second-semester drop/add period.

🎓 CLASS MEETINGS
Tuesday — Freshmen
Wednesday — Sophomores
Thursday — Juniors
Friday — Seniors

📱 CELL PHONES & TECHNOLOGY
Students will turn in cell phones at the beginning of each class period and Advisory/Homeroom. Phones visible during instructional time are subject to collection.

Headphones/earbuds and Chromebooks should only be used according to school expectations and teacher direction.

👕 DRESS CODE
Please help students start the year prepared to follow our dress code expectations. Headwear must be removed inside the building.

🚗 PARENT DROP-OFF
Parents should enter the parent drop-off lot from Littlefield Road.

➡️ Students should remain in their vehicles until directed by staff to exit.
➡️ Unloading begins at 8:15 AM.
🚫 NO STUDENT DROP-OFF IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. The front drive is used for bus unloading.

🚌 BUS ARRIVAL
Buses typically unload between 8:10–8:20 AM. Once the bus loop fills, buses may unload along the front drive.

🛑 Never pass a stopped school bus.

Please be patient, especially during the first few days as everyone adjusts to our routines.

🚘 STUDENT DRIVERS
Students should park in their assigned numbered parking space.

Students coming from the Littlefield Road area are encouraged to avoid morning bus traffic by using:

➡️ Weyerhaeuser Road → Ernest Taylor Road → Highway 11 → Student Parking Lot

⚠️ HIGHWAY 11 SAFETY
Please use extra caution entering and leaving campus. Highway 11 is a heavily traveled 60-mph roadway.

Students are reminded that walking across or along Highway 11 to Country Mart is prohibited.

🇺🇸 Proud Charger Moment! 💚💛

We are proud of Ky’Leigh Ward for representing Ayden-Grifton High School and our JROTC program at the Pitt County Board of Commissioners meeting this past Monday!

Ky’Leigh had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance to open the meeting and represented AGHS and our JROTC program with confidence and pride.

We are always excited to see our Chargers demonstrating leadership beyond the walls of our school and representing our community well.

Way to go, Ky’Leigh! 🐎💚💛

What a great way to celebrate the start of a new school year! 💚💛

Today, the Ayden-Grifton Attendance Area schools came together for a wonderful luncheon at Elm Grove Church. Great food, fellowship, and time together made for the perfect way to get ready to welcome our students back on Monday!

A special thank you to The Ayden Rotary Club, The Ayden-Grifton Kiwanis Club, Elm Grove Church, and everyone from our attendance area who helped make today’s luncheon possible. We are grateful for a community that continues to support our schools, our staff, and our students.

🚗🚌 AGHS Morning Arrival & Traffic Flow Reminder

As we prepare to welcome our Chargers back on Monday, August 24, please review our morning arrival procedures. Student safety remains our highest priority, and everyone’s patience and cooperation will help us start each morning safely and efficiently.

🚌 BUS TRAFFIC — FRONT OF SCHOOL
The roadway directly in front of AGHS is a one-way, single-lane drive.

* Buses will fill the bus loop as they arrive.
* Once the bus loop reaches capacity, buses will stop along the front drive and deploy their stop signs while students unload.
* Because this is a single-lane roadway, vehicles may NOT pass a stopped school bus.
*Buses typically unload between **8:10–8:25 a.m. Please expect brief delays and use extra caution.

👨‍👩‍👧 PARENT DROP-OFF — BEGINS AT 8:15 A.M.
Parents should enter the parent drop-off lot from Littlefield Road and follow the two-lane traffic pattern shown on the map. Parents can pick either lane to drop off.

Students should remain inside their vehicles until directed by an AGHS staff member to exit. We will begin unloading vehicles at 8:15 a.m.

Please follow staff directions and use both lanes as designed. This allows us to unload multiple vehicles at once and keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.

🚘 STUDENT DRIVERS — RECOMMENDED ROUTE
Students traveling from the Littlefield Road area and parking in the student parking lot are strongly encouraged to use:

➡️ Weyerhaeuser Road → Ernest Taylor Road → Highway 11

This route provides direct access to the student parking lot while avoiding the front drive during peak bus unloading times.

📍 Please take a moment to review both attached maps before Monday morning.

The first few days of school will naturally bring heavier traffic as everyone becomes familiar with the routine. Please plan ahead, allow a few extra minutes, remain patient, and follow the established traffic patterns and staff directions.

What a great night welcoming our Charger families back to Ayden-Grifton High School for Open House! 💚💛🐎

There was a lot of excitement throughout the building as students and families met teachers, explored our programs, and got ready for another great year at AGHS.

A special thank you to The Daily Reflector for coming out tonight to highlight our new Culinary Arts lab and the expanded opportunities it will provide our students. We are excited about the continued improvements happening across our campus and the opportunities they create for our Chargers!

At AGHS, we are committed to A Relentless Pursuit of Excellence—in our classrooms, our programs, our facilities, and everything we do for students.

Now it’s time to get the year started!
