This week is all about building connections, spreading kindness, and making sure every single person on our campus feels welcomed and included. A simple smile or a friendly "hello" can completely brighten someone's day! 🤝💚

🤖🌱 The Hive at Avondale is hosting classes to learn how artificial intelligence works using data you generate in a community hydroponic garden. 🌱🤖

💡 This weekly series will teach you the basics of hydroponic gardening, algorithmic thinking, and artificial intelligence.

🌱📊 Over eight weeks you'll record the growth and development of your plant, then use that data to build an AI model of your own! 🤖✨

By the end of the class you'll have a solid understanding of how AI models are built, taught, tested, and improved--and you'll have a plant to take to your home or garden! 🪴🏡

📅 Classes are on Fridays from 3-4 PM beginning September 25 - October 25.

🔺 Precision & Power: 3rd Grade Cup Stacking Challenge in PE! 🏆✨

Our 3rd Grade Stars put their coordination and focus to the ultimate test in P.E. during a fun pyramid-building challenge! 🎯⚡

Building on the fine motor control, balance, and spatial awareness skills they’ve been sharpening all week, our Stars worked individually to stack, steady, and construct sturdy cup pyramids under time pressure. ⏳🧱

This challenge required much more than just quick hands! Our Stars had to practice steady breath control, careful movement, problem solving, and resilience when a tower tumbled! 🧠🤝

🔬🌎 Science, collaboration and big ideas!

Our Chief Science Officers (CSOs) participated in the SciTech Youth Solutions Summit on Saturday, September 12, connecting and collaborating with CSO students from around the world! 🌱🤖

Students worked in small groups and explored topics including the importance of herbariums, participated in a Zooteens session with the Phoenix Zoo, and discovered how AI is transforming environmental science.

We love seeing our student leaders learning, connecting and exploring solutions for the future! 🚀

🚌 Safety First: Excellent Job on Our Bus Evacuation Drill! 🛑✨

Safety is always our top priority at STAR Academy and, today, our Stars showed us just how prepared, focused, and responsible they can be! 🌟

All of our Stars participated in our mandatory bus evacuation practice. Under the guidance of our transportation team and staff, students practiced safely and efficiently exiting the school bus in an emergency situation. 🦺👏

Our Stars did a phenomenal job following directions, listening carefully to safety instructions, and keeping calm and orderly throughout the entire drill. Practicing these procedures ensures that everyone knows exactly what to do to keep themselves and their peers safe. 🚌💨

A huge thank you to our bus drivers, staff, and incredible Stars for making this practice drill a smooth, safe success! Great job taking safety seriously! 🏆⭐

🎳 Strikes & Smiles: 2nd Grade PE Takes on Bouncy Ball Bowling! 🎳✨

Our 2nd Grade Stars had a blast in Physical Education playing a super fun twist on a classic game: Bouncy Ball Bowling! 🤾‍♂️💥

Instead of heavy bowling balls, our Stars used high-powered bouncy balls to knock down the pins! Rolling, bouncing, and aiming down the lane required quick reaction times, great hand-eye coordination, and a whole lot of control. 🎯🧠

The energy in the gym was electric as Stars cheered on their teammates, celebrated every strike, and practiced good sportsmanship every step of the way. 🤝🏆 It was a fantastic way to build fundamental motor skills while keeping fitness active and wildly fun. 🌟👟
