Avondale Elementary School District's Summer Literacy Hub is heading into Week 2, and we have a fantastic lineup of daily presentations and interactive family fun planned!

📅 When: Monday, June 8th – Thursday, June 11th
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM daily
📍 Location: Eliseo C. Felix | 540 E La Pasada Blvd, Goodyear, AZ 85338

✨ What to Expect:
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM | Daily Presentations: Covering helpful topics like literacy kits, community resources, youth wellness, and early reading tips. (Free child care provided during this hour!)

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Family Time: Hands-on activities including crafts, reading games, building forts, and a family movie day!

☕ Perks: Free refreshments (coffee, water, and snacks) will be available for families.

📚✨ The Summer Lit Hub is officially up and running!

We kicked off our first session with an engaging presentation from Read Better Be Better, where families received literacy kits, learned strategies for reading with their children, and practiced partner reading together. Best of all, every child took home a free book to continue building their love of reading!

After the presentation, families stayed to enjoy literacy games and activities together, making reading fun and interactive for everyone.

Missed the first session? There's still time to join! Read Better Be Better will return the next two Mondays to provide the same valuable training and resources for families.

☀️🍉 FREE SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM! 🍔🍎

Families are invited to participate in our free summer meals program for all children under the age of 18. The program starts tomorrow! Meals will be served Monday through Friday beginning June 1 through Wednesday, June 17, at Michael Anderson School, located at 45 S. Third Avenue. 🏫✨

⏰ MEAL SCHEDULE:
🥞 Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
🥪 Lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon.

The summer meal program helps ensure children continue to have access to healthy and nutritious meals while school is out for the summer. ☀️🥛🥦

📜🎭 HISTORY COMES TO LIFE! 🎭📜

Our amazing 6th graders hosted their annual Wax Museum, bringing history's most famous figures right into the classroom! 🌟 Students researched and portrayed historical icons, while our younger grade levels walked through to listen, learn, and ask questions. 🕵️‍♂️📚

It was a huge success, and we are so proud of our students' hard work and creativity! 👏✨

🚀💫 MAS Rockets said a bittersweet farewell to four extraordinary teachers who are blasting off into their next chapter! 🌟

We wish a very happy and well-deserved retirement to Mrs. Swanson, Mrs. Avitia, Mrs. Avila, and Mrs. Sharbonda. 🍎📚 Your dedication, love, and guidance have left a lasting impact, and you will be deeply missed by your students, co-workers, and the entire MAS community. Thank you for everything! ❤️🎓
