🐦💚 **A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO MS. OLIVIA!** 💚🐦

We are celebrating someone who means so much to our Nest family - Ms. Olivia, our wonderful Director, is celebrating FIVE YEARS at the Nest!

For five years, Ms. Olivia has poured her heart into our school, our teachers, and most importantly, our children and families. She is an incredible **manager, team leader, educator, and mentor** who always seems to be thinking about everyone around her.

One of the things that makes Ms. Olivia so special is her ability to balance the many sides of being a director. She knows when to step into management mode, when to support her team, and when to jump right into the classroom and be an educator. She truly understands that sometimes you have to wear ALL the hats!

She leads with care, supports her team, celebrates our successes, helps us through the challenging days, and always has the Nest’s best interests at heart. Her dedication and commitment over these past five years have made such an impact on our school community.

Thank you, Ms. Olivia, for five amazing years!

We appreciate everything you do — more than you probably know! We are so lucky to have you leading our Nest family. Here’s to many more years of learning, growing, laughing, and making a difference together!

Happy 5 Years at the Nest, Ms. Olivia!

Our Penguins are discovering the wonders of Oobleck!

Last week, our little scientists mixed cornstarch and warm water to create their very own oobleck! They used their hands to explore its unique texture and discovered how it can feel and move differently depending on how they interact with it.

We asked questions like: “How does it feel when it runs through your fingers?” and “What do you have to do differently to move your hand through it?”

So much hands-on learning, sensory exploration, and scientific discovery!

Last week we explored the anatomy of our tongues! The children learned that our tongues are made mostly of muscles and help us with eating, tasting, swallowing, and speaking.

Using magnifying glasses, our little scientists took a closer look at their tongues, noticing the tiny bumps called papillae and learning how some contain taste buds. We asked questions, made observations, compared what we noticed, and practiced using new vocabulary.

What a fun way to discover that science can start with simply asking a question and taking a closer look!

Our Ducklings became little scientists as they explored their own heartbeats using stethoscopes!

The children listened carefully and discovered that their hearts make a special “lub-dub” sound. This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity while helping them begin to learn about their bodies and how their hearts work.

Learning about ourselves can be so much fun!

Our Ducklings are always ready to explore, discover, and learn!

Our Ducklings had so much fun exploring our “What’s Inside?” box! Each child reached in to pull out familiar toys and colorful scarves, creating lots of excitement and curiosity. 👀🧸🧣

This simple activity encourages our little learners to explore, make connections, recognize familiar objects, build vocabulary, and practice using their senses as they discover what’s hiding inside!

Sometimes the simplest activities create the biggest smiles—and our Ducklings sure loved the surprise!

Meet Ms. Michela!

We’re excited to introduce you to Ms. Michela, our wonderful Penguins teacher! She has been part of the Nest family for over a year, and we are so happy to have her caring heart and creativity in our Penguins classroom.
A little from Ms. Michela:

"I am so excited to be a part of The Nest! In our classroom, we love to sing, read, and build. Messy play is how we learn! Preschool is a big step, and I promise to give lots of hugs, patience, and encouragement as they learn and grow."

Ms. Michela believes in making learning fun, hands-on, and full of opportunities to explore. From building and singing to getting messy and discovering something new, she helps our Penguins feel confident as they take those big preschool steps.

We are so thankful to have Ms. Michela in our Nest!

Behind every happy child is a teacher who is learning, encouraging, comforting, creating, and growing right alongside them.
We love capturing our Nest teachers in action—getting down on their level, joining their play, exploring new ideas, sharing a laugh, and creating those little everyday moments that make such a big difference.

A few weeks into the school year, what's new is starting to become familiar and those everyday routines are beginning to matter more than you might realize. 💚

For young children, routines are about so much more than staying on schedule. Familiar moments throughout the day can help children know what to expect, feel secure during transitions, build healthy habits, and create a stronger sense of connection and belonging.

The good news? Routines don’t have to be complicated. ✨ Getting dressed in the morning, a hug before school, talking together at dinner, or reading the same bedtime story each night can all become comforting cues children learn to count on.

At The Nest Schools, we see that same power in the classroom. Predictable rhythms give children the security of knowing what comes next while leaving plenty of room to play, explore, create, move, and discover.

As your family settles into a new school-year rhythm, remember: children need predictable parents, not perfect parents. 💚

Nest Play Curriculum is growing right alongside our children!

As we enter Year 6 we’re introducing thoughtful updates designed to make purposeful play even more intentional, adaptable, and connected.

With clearer learning goals, more ways for teachers to bring activities to life, and parent-friendly activity summaries that show what children are learning along the way, these updates make Nest Play even more meaningful for teachers, children, and families.

When we understand the why behind the play, we can see just how much learning is happening in every moment. ✨

BIG news for The Nest Schools! ⭐🎉
Our proprietary Nest Play Curriculum, which guides learning across our schools, has received exciting recognition from not one, but TWO states!

⭐ Ohio has approved Nest Play through its Step Up To Quality program.
⭐ North Carolina has named Nest Play an approved curriculum through the North Carolina Child Care Commission and NC DCDEE.

While these recognitions come from Ohio and North Carolina, they celebrate the curriculum our children and teachers experience across The Nest Schools every day. 💚

They reinforce something we’ve always believed: play-based learning is REAL learning. Every tower built, question sparked, masterpiece created, pretend game played, and discovery made is an opportunity to build the skills, confidence, creativity, and curiosity children will carry with them for years to come. ✨

We’re incredibly proud of Nest Play, the educators who bring it to life, and this recognition of the meaningful learning happening in our classrooms every day.

New school year, new routines, and sometimes…new behaviors. 😅💛

Changes in schedules, classrooms, expectations, and everyday routines can be a lot for children to process. When children don’t yet have the words or the developmental skills to explain everything they’re feeling, those feelings can show up through their behavior instead.

So when the after-school meltdown happens or emotions suddenly feel a little bigger than usual, there may be more going on beneath the surface.

Yesterday, we talked about what to do when those tough moments get the best of us. Today, we’re looking at what those big moments might be telling us about them.

Because sometimes, big behavior is a bigger message. 💛

New routines, busy mornings, changing schedules, big feelings… back-to-school season can be an adjustment for parents, too. 💛

Sometimes, in the middle of all that change, we lose our cool. We raise our voice. We react in a way we wish we hadn’t. What happens next matters.

Taking the time to repair, to acknowledge what happened, apologize, and talk about the feelings involved shows children something incredibly important: We all have big emotions. We all make mistakes. And we can take responsibility and make things right.

As your family settles into a new school-year rhythm, remember that emotional intelligence isn’t about handling every moment perfectly. Sometimes, some of the most meaningful lessons come from what we do after a hard moment. 🪺💛
