Well we're back in the swing of a new school year. I think we will finally be completely back to normalcy -to the standard full course content and rigor of pre pandemic classes. It's important for students to get out a strong start in the courses that necessitate building a base that is needed throughout the year, especially physics, chemistry,biology and of course all math courses.

Now that midterms are out of the way,there are fewer than 7 weeks until the March SAT. It sort of kicks off the spring standardized test season,with an ACT in both April and June,as well SAT tests in May and June. So no need to panic about the March one. Yes,in CT all juniors have to take the March one in school, but your junior still has plenty of opportunity to prep for the later spring ones. And now that both the SAT and ACT have earlier fall dates then previously,students who are too busy during this spring semester to study thoroughly can prepare over the summer right up to the test and get them done before senior year kicks into gear(rather than have to wait until mid to late October)

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. It's time for parents to be thinking about what their junior will be doing to prepare for the SAT /ACT tests. While there is some overlap in the two tests, there are major differences. Limited time is a significant challenge of the ACT. But one should not automatically shy away if he or she works at an average speed. Part of preparing is learning to recognize when and how to be as time efficient as possible.

Happy New Year everyone!
Once midterms are completed there are less than 2 months before everyone has to take the SAT in school. And don't forget about the ACT in April which may be a better fit for your child. Now is a good time to start test prep for the spring.

The deadline for registration for the April 14th ACT is March 9th. Seriously consider this alternative to the SAT. While colleges will accept either test, they are different. The main difference is the time constraint on the ACT. If your child works a little above average speed, they may be better off preparing to take the ACT. Please contact me with any questions!
