What is attending Avon Old Farms actually like? In one of his final school projects, recent graduate Joachim Vogel ’26 captured images from daily life, and shared what he wants incoming students to know about their new school.

It's been another busy summer for our facilities team!

The final step of the quad dormitory project is almost done, the ice in the hockey rink has been replaced, and a few other areas of campus have also received some maintenance. We can't wait for our students to see the upgrades when they return in the fall!

Congratulations to recent graduate Joachim Vogel on an extraordinary achievement!

His photo, Frozen Motion, has been named a finalist in the American Association of Physics Teachers 2026 High School Physics Photo Contest—a national competition that celebrates the beauty and wonder of physics through photography.

We're incredibly proud to see Joachim's creativity and scientific perspective recognized on the national stage.

The Avon Army is one of a kind. Throughout his first year on campus, Ryan Yu '29 explored the experience and impact of being a spectator at Avon sporting events.

"The vibe of the audience can affect the performance of a player in a game, and it’s an important factor between winning and losing. The emotions of a spectator are real, and so is their impact on the outcome," – Ryan Yu

This is the latest example of work from our digital photography students, who took on a photojournalism project this past year that tasked them with telling a story through images. We'll be continuing to share more of those projects throughout the summer!

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of former faculty member and honorary member of the Class of 2024 Art Mehos.

During his time at Avon, Art was known and cherished by Avonians for his dedication in the classroom and his genuine care for every student who crossed his path. He was equally beloved on the athletic fields, where some of our winningest teams took shape under his direction. His impact on this community runs deep, and he will be greatly missed.
