💔📚 Remembering Dolly Parton 📚💔
Today, the childcare and early childhood community mourns the loss of someone who made an incredible difference in the lives of children around the world.
Dolly Parton was so much more than a legendary musician. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she turned her love of children and books into a movement that has put more than 300 million books into the hands of children. The program began in 1995, inspired by her father, who was unable to read or write, and grew into a global early-literacy effort.
For those of us in childcare, her message was especially powerful: every child deserves access to books, opportunities to learn, and someone who believes in their potential.
She understood something we see every day in early childhood—the simple act of putting a book into a child's hands can spark imagination, build confidence, strengthen a family connection, and create a lifelong love of learning. ❤️📖
Dolly's legacy will live on in every child who received a book in the mail, every parent who shared a bedtime story, and every educator who watched a child's eyes light up as they discovered a new story.
Today, we honor Dolly by doing what she encouraged us all to do:
