Indiana’s new diploma framework creates more opportunities for students to personalize their pathway through career experiences, credentials and work-based learning.

For students pursuing specific honors seals, qualifying work-based learning hours include:

75 hours for the Enrollment Honors Plus Seal
150 hours for the Employment Honors Seal
650 hours for the Employment Honors Plus Seal

These experiences can include internships, apprenticeships, capstone experiences, school-based enterprises and other authentic interactions with industry professionals. Work-based learning may be embedded in CTE courses, completed outside regular school hours or accumulated across multiple experiences.

That means CTE educators and school partners play an important role in building meaningful opportunities, creating strong employer partnerships, supporting student plans and accurately reporting experiences in InTERS. The work happening in classrooms, labs, career centers and communities helps students connect their learning to what comes next.

CTE gives students the opportunity to learn by doing, ask questions in real time and build confidence through practice.
