🔬⛵ Our Memorial Elementary second-grade scientists have been busy discovering how scientists use models to plan, build, and test their ideas!

Students designed and built their own boats using aluminum foil. Next, they’ll put their creations to the test to see if they can float! Will their designs sink or sail? 🌊

We love bringing science to life through fun, hands-on investigations that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity! ❤️🤍💙

We are so excited to celebrate our wonderful grandparents on Friday September 4th!

⏰ NEW TIME: 7:45–8:15 AM
Due to our new system, we are unable to use the online pre-registration links we have used in the past.

To help make check-in quicker and easier, parents may pre-register grandparents IN PERSON at the school during school hours in the days leading up to the event.
We highly encourage pre-registering ahead of time to help us avoid long lines the morning of Grandparents Day.

🗑️💚 WAIT… COACH RIFFLE PUT ME IN A TRASH CAN?! 💚🗑️

Parents of our Kindergarten and 1st Grade Patriots — if your child comes home and tells you that Coach Riffle put them in a trash can at PE… THEY’RE TELLING THE TRUTH! 😂🤣

Well… sort of! 😜

This week, Coach Riffle and Coach Hitchcock introduced our students to a super fun PE game called OSCAR’S TRASH CAN! 🗑️💚

We turned our gymnastics mats into a giant “trash can,” with a few students inside playing the role of Oscar! Students on the outside stood in designated throwing areas and worked on their throwing skills by tossing soft balls — our “trash” — into Oscar’s Trash Can! 🎯

But Oscar doesn’t want all that trash! 😂

Our little Oscars worked as fast as they could to throw the trash back OUT, while everyone on the outside tried to throw it back IN! 🗑️🏃‍♂️💨

It was nonstop movement, throwing practice, teamwork, laughter, and FUN!

So yes… your child may have been “put in the trash can” by Coach Riffle and Coach Hitchcock — but we promise it was only Oscar’s Trash Can! 😂💚

Another great day of GROWING, GLOWING, and MOVING in Memorial Elementary PE! 🌟❤️🤍💙

What a SWEET way to end the week! ❤️🤍💙

Our Memorial Elementary Patriots had a blast celebrating our first Snow Cone Day! Students enjoyed cooling off with delicious snow cones 🍧 while having fun with friends and participating in some exciting activities!

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and GLOWING good times all around campus! 🌟

What better way to jump into the weekend than with a little fun and a whole lot of school spirit! 🎉

Ms. Kate’s class, Ms. Lin’s class, and Mrs. Godfrey’s class came together for a PBIS Mini Bash to recognize students who have been making positive choices, showing kindness, and following school expectations! 🪓🥞 Paul Bunyan Day in Second Grade! 🥞🪵

Our second graders had a BIG day celebrating the end of our Fairy Tales and Tall Tales Unit with Paul Bunyan Day!

Students enjoyed delicious pancakes, themed activities, lots of laughter, and a fun-filled day that brought their learning to life. We love creating special memories while celebrating all the hard work and learning happening in second grade!

🔒 MESSAGE TO MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY FAMILIES

Good evening, Memorial Families,

We would like to provide some clarification regarding the lockdown that occurred on our campus today.

Today’s lockdown was not related to any incident or threat surrounding our school. At no point were our students or staff in harm’s way or in danger. The lockdown was initiated due to an accidental activation by an employee.

Our safety procedures were followed appropriately, and we appreciate how calmly and responsibly our students and staff responded. Situations such as this also reinforce the importance of practicing our safety procedures so everyone knows what to do whenever an alert is activated.

We understand that receiving information about a lockdown can be concerning for families, and we wanted to reassure you that everyone on our campus remained safe throughout the incident.

Thank you for your understanding, continued trust, and support as we work together to keep our Memorial HEROES safe. ❤️🤍💙

✈️Scientists in Action! 🔬

Today in Mrs. Valles’s science class, our students became scientists and engineers by designing and testing their own paper airplane models! ✈️ They learned that scientists use models to test ideas, make observations, and see what works. Students tested their airplanes, observed the results, and thought about how changes to their designs could affect how they flew.

Science is always more fun when we get to learn by doing! 🧪✨
