Stella has been busy learning and growing at Memorial Elementary, and this summer is the perfect time to keep those reading adventures going!
The Highlands County Libraries are hosting their 2026 Youth Summer Reading Program, "Reading is Rawr-some!" for children and teens ages 0β18. Families can register at any branch, set reading goals, earn prizes, receive free books, and be entered for grand prize drawings throughout the summer.
Even more exciting, each library branch is offering fun dinosaur-themed activities, crafts, sensory experiences, parties, and visits with therapy dogs all summer long!
π Library Locations
π¦ Avon Park Public Library
π¦ Sebring Public Library
π¦ Lake Placid Memorial Library
π¨ Activities include:
β’ Dino painting and crafts
β’ Slime and sensory fun
β’ Dino parties
β’ Bead crafts

β’ And much more!
Reading just 20 minutes a day can help children maintain and strengthen the skills they worked so hard to build during the school year.

π±β¨ Our 4th and 5th graders had an amazing time on Monday, May 11th when the Orlando Science Center came to visit!
Each group participated in a hands-on lesson all about the agriculture that happens right here in Florida every day. From learning how food grows to exploring the science behind it, our students were curious, engaged, and excited every step of the way! ππ
A big thank you to the Orlando Science Center for bringing science to life for our students! π
