This morning, at 6:30 a.m. sharp, a class of 24 new recruits for SFSC’s Law Enforcement program met to hold a flag-raising ceremony.

The new class is comprised of recruits from surrounding areas and SFSC’s service area, and they will meet every morning at 6:30 a.m. for this purpose. This daily ceremony promotes unity, discipline, and respect.

Yesterday, Dr. Stacy Sharp, English professor at SFSC, was re-elected to serve as a Hardee County School Board member for another four years.

Today, Dr. Asena Mott, dean of off-campus instructional sites at SFSC, was re-elected to serve as a DeSoto County School Board member for another four years.

SFSC alumna, Jenale Alfonso Cruz, is passionate about dentistry and research. She plans to complete her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida in August 2027 and continue on to dental school and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences. Congratulations to SFSC’s Dina Capuano, Fred Hayes, and Debbie Gutierrez for participating in Leadership Highlands Class of 2026! Applications for Leadership Highlands Class (LH) of 2027 are now being accepted. Through LH, participants are immersed in a yearlong experience to increase their knowledge of Highlands County’s infrastructure, agencies, economic drivers, and community needs and nurture leadership skills. The program runs throughout the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is Wednesday, July 15, 2026. As a camp service project, Beauty Fit for a Queen (.fit.for.a.queen) collected canned goods for Pete's Pantry on SFSC's Highlands Campus. There were over 120 cans! 😲

On Thursday, SFSC's Christi Bobo and Pete the Panther were on site to thank this group of caring and thoughtful young ladies for their assistance. 🐾
