SFSC STUDENTS: South Florida State College is introducing the Panther Vaccine Incentive Program to encourage more Panthers to get protected against COVID-19.

Current students who are vaccinated will receive a $200 credit to spend at the SFSC Bookstore. This applies to ALL students in all programs of study: credit, non-credit, adult education, dual enrollment, certification, etc.

If you are already fully vaccinated or when you get fully vaccinated with two Moderna or Pfizer shots or one Johnson & Johnson shot, bring your completed vaccine card to the reception area at the Highlands Campus, Hardee Campus, DeSoto Campus, or Lake Placid Center. You will then complete a form with your GID to verify your information.

Present your paper vaccination card between Sept. 15 – Nov. 15, 2021 to receive your $200 incentive. Though the cutoff for this incentive is Nov. 15, 2021, purchases may be made with this account credit in-person and online through April 15, 2022. Any balance remaining may not be redeemed for cash.

To make an appointment to get vaccinated, visit floridahealthcovid19.gov/vaccines/vaccine-locator to find a local vaccination site online. SFSC will also host AdventHealth on the Highlands Campus on Sept. 22 and 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to administer Moderna vaccines for free. Second doses will be available on Oct. 13 and 14.

SFSC Students: SFSC invites you to celebrate Constitution Day which commemorates Sept. 17, 1787, the day the U.S. Constitution was signed. On Thursday, Sept. 16, the Student Government Association (SGA) will offer free copies of the Constitution along with pizza 🍕 at 11 a.m. in Building B. On Friday, the copies of Constitution will still be available for visitors to pick up. 🇺🇸

Learn more about Constitution Day and the significance of the U.S. Constitution by visiting the websites for Constitution Day, the Constitution Center, and the National Archives. The SFSC Library also created a libguide for the U.S. Constitution and has a Constitution-focused display on the first floor of Building Y on the Highlands Campus.

SFSC promotes civic literacy through Constitution Day activities and civic literacy-infused courses. A Florida statute that went into effect on Aug. 17, 2018 requires students seeking an Associate in Arts degree to demonstrate competency in civic literacy. To meet this requirement, students may take either POS 1041 American Government or AMH 1020 Introductory Survey of American History since 1877.

If you are a member of the Honors Program at SFSC, register for the Honors Seminar in Molecular Biology this fall where you will discuss techniques, complete lab work, and enjoy presentations by guest speakers. Log into Panther Central to add IDH 2006 to your schedule.
