Important Update

As you may know, the school district is going through some major changes at the administrative level. As a result, there are quite a few new policies being put into place.

One such policy is in regards to social media pages, such as this one, that is not run officially by the school, but is tied to a school organization. The new policy will require all pages, such as this one, to be managed by an administrator. Since it began, this page has been managed by Mr. Blostein.

The purpose of this page has always been to maintain an open line of communication between the happenings and successes of the music program, and the community at large. That's important, and we don't want to lose that.

However, as administration is already running a lot of social media pages, this page will likely be rendered redundant. Additionally, as a teacher, the expectation to maintain a page that I no longer control is not within the scope of my duties.

So, this page will disappear within the next few days. Please take a moment to look through the many successes the music program has achieved over the last several years! We have an amazing community, and a wonderful music program.

Please continue to come to events to support the good work the students do! If you would like to continue to see these things promoted in the manner they have been, gentle and polite reminders to our administrative staff are always helpful.

As always, many thanks to this wonderful community for your support over the years – we have many more to come! We’ll see you from the stage!

We are thrilled that this year, several APHS students are participating in various ESYO (Empire State Youth Orchestra) ensembles! Sarah Faragon, Emily Horton (not shown) and Claire Flynn (not shown) are part of the new Chorale, Abbie Jorden, Lindsey VanAlstyne and Rebecca Ware are in the Wind Ensemble, Anthony Pastizzo is in the Youth Jazz Ensemble, and Andrew Gorman and Noelle Hall (not shown) are in the Symphonic (previously known as Youth) Orchestra.

Auditions are held in the spring, and students are accepted into ensembles based on how they compare to others in the region. Concerts are held at various times and locations throughout the year. More info can be found at esyo.org

Come check out Claire Flynn and Hayden Chenette in Disney's "Newsies". Performances are at the Lakehouse in Washington Park in Albany. Free lawn seating, or close seats for a small price. Hayden plays "Davey", and Claire plays "Hannah" for two more nights, then takes the role of "Katherine" for the rest of the run.

Tuesday through Saturday nights, final performance is August 24.

(Also - I heard Mr. B is playing tenor and bass trombone in the pit...)
