As the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday comes to a close I am reflecting on what I am grateful for this year - The amazing people in my life - family, friends, and business connections. I am grateful for all the opportunities to meet new people and learn new information each and every day. I have just finished reading 3 great books -

As I returned from the grocery store on Sunday morning, I noticed a group of birds standing on a telephone wire. I started to think that perhaps they had arrived early for the winter and didn't know where to go as their friends had not yet arrived. This is just one possibility, what story would you tell if you saw these birds?
Earlier I was asked "What does "Your Meeting Place" mean (the name of my business) and what is it"? The answer is simple - Your Meeting Place was established in 2013 as a concept space to bring people together who wanted to learn, grow and have fun in the process. In 2017, 4 years later after my business took a slightly different direction and I realized I didn't need the physical space, I moved to a shared space. As time went on another answer was a place (not physical) to meet people on their journey in life. Your Meeting Place is just one of my happy islands in my chain of islands. More to come about the definition of a happy island...

From the Living and Leading with Intenergy™ Perspective – December 25, 2016

Looking through Facebook posts regularly can be enlightening, relaxing, entertaining, or maybe draining, time consuming, etc. How much time do you spend checking Facebook posts? What are some of the benefits and costs for you? Do you have boundaries when you invest your time in looking? These are just some of the questions I had after the following scenario played out:
From start to finish my intention of paying the bills online the other night took 5 hours to finish from the time I took out the checkbook, settled down in front of the computer and completed the task. – Why you might wonder?
The process began with “some” distractions.
I thought I would just sit down and pay the bills, but first, there were emails… next, my husband reminded me that we needed to eat dinner (it was a quick one)… and next, there were several hours of looking at Facebook, not one of my regular activities, where I saw two posts that led me to two different websites. The posts, linked me to, an article written by someone I didn’t know and several blogs written by someone I did know, - both were young adults or otherwise known as “20 somethings”.
After going to the links, I was amazed at the awareness of the big picture of life that these”20 somethings” both shared, as their perspective was so different from most of the young adults in this age group, my own included.
The article highlighted how being a young person with an old soul is a difficult journey for some people – it can lead to feeling misunderstood, different, labeled and even isolated in this young adults view. Being “different” either by a label or by our own stuff is not necessarily a problem - some like different and others, not so much.
Growing up, I didn’t like having a boys name and years later when I came to realize that I had the power to view it differently, I let go of the story I had believed, and I created a new one that was more supportive and today I actually like my name as well as appreciate being “different”.
The blogs were about being a conscious parent and shared some examples of the potential possibilities available to create win/win solutions to opportunities (otherwise known as challenges) that are presented in raising a young child. After examining our own stuff (baggage, or any other term we use to describe our current belief system) before we pass it on to our children, is a gift we can give ourselves as well as the children. The information was shared in a way that left me thinking it would have been helpful to know all this in my 20’s or at least in my 30’s as I raised my children.
Five hours later, the bills finally got paid and I felt so inspired by these “20 somethings”!
As I tried to go to sleep my mind was spinning so I started writing about seeing the unlimited choices that exist when we are using what Carol Dweck, author of the book Mindset, has called a “growth mindset”. When we are Living and Leading with Intenergy™, we see the opportunities that are present when we believe we can learn from everyone including our children, friends, employees, and anyone we come in contact with, which exposes us to new possibilities in our belief systems.
When we understand how a belief system is formed and all the components that go into that system, it is not surprising what we each individually hold to be the “Truth”. We all have a unique perspective and the ability to examine our beliefs and values to decide whether they support or interfere with our intentions of how we want to be. Mine definitely needed a review and subsequently a major overhaul!
For the last four years, I have been learning and seeing how our choices create our life. Personally, it has changed my life dramatically by using all the new information that I have gained by going to school to learn the coaching process, reading books on personal growth and professional development, reading magazines, including Success (my personal favorite), reading online articles, listening to others while being totally present and watching a multitude of TED talks. All of these have given me new words to articulate with confidence what I intuitively know.
The beginning of the overhaul, was consciously deciding I wanted to respond to life with emotional intelligence vs. reacting to triggers when anything is not going as planned! Next I have worked on recognizing all of the opportunities I have to decrease my judgment resulting in an exponentially expanded view giving me so many new possibilities on how to see life differently. Noticing our patterns and examining them for learning is part of the process to becoming our best self. Meeting and working with my business partner and friend, Angie and developing our process of Living and Leading with Intenergy™, is just one of the amazing benefits I have experienced on the journey of being open to growth.
Starting in January, 2017 several programs will begin at Dynamic Growth at Your Meeting Place where the information from books, TED talks, thought leaders, and professional coaches are integrated into our process of Living and Leading with Intenergy ™ so others will have the opportunity to learn how to be their best self.
Make the choice to take the first step to learning how this process can be part of your life!
