This was in response to me sharing that my daughter watched Mrs. Doubtfire with me when she was 5 or 6 years old. Her dad and I got divorced when she was about 2 and by the time she was 5 she was grasping the concept of what divorce meant. This movie helped her feel seen. It also evoked many feeling in all of us. Sadness, grief, joy, love, gratitude. Trying to lean in instead of runaway is my favorite approach đŸ©”

Instead of making her move quickly for literally zero reason (other than that’s how my brain has been programmed) Who was the one having trouble moving more slowly?

In these 8 minutes She taught me that we don’t have to always be DOING. We can just be BEING.

Additionally, they don’t always need us to talk. Silence is often uncomfortable but sometimes, in a space of love and security, can be the most comforting and non pressured thing.
