Meet Joe Valente, Lead Driving Instructor & Vehicle-Centric Defense Tactics Training Coordinator at Vehicle Dynamics Institute (VDI)

Joe V is a U.S. Army veteran with seven years of active-duty service, including assignments as a reconnaissance team leader, protective security detail team leader during Operation Enduring Freedom, and Rifle Marksmanship Instructor. After transitioning to the private sector, he built his executive protection career with experience in close protection, surveillance detection, and residential security before advancing through VDI's instructor development pipeline to Lead Instructor.

Today, Joe V leads VDI's Driver training on home and most mobile training programs as well as our Surveillance Detection Program and Vehicle-Centric Defensive Tactics programs, combining his experience in executive protection, Muay Thai, the Keysi Fighting Method (KFM), and emergency medical services to deliver practical, real-world training.

After a 30-year career with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Chad brings decades of real-world operational and instructional experience to every course he leads. Throughout his law enforcement career, he served in patrol, SWAT, maritime operations, and as a security driver for public officials, while also spending more than a decade leading driver training programs.
