Another class has graduated from Pennsylvania Gunsmith School.

Graduation marks the end of one chapter, but the work that brought these students here happened long before the ceremony; in the shop, at the bench, and through hours of hands-on technical training.

Congratulations to our newest graduates. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with you and look forward to seeing where your skills take you next.

Triggernometry VS Trigonometry..... Who can see what these are doing and for what reason?

This is what a day at PGS looks like.

Students learning, instructors teaching, machines running and work happening at the bench.

No shortcuts. Just hands-on training and time spent developing the skills of the trade.

Some skills are worth preserving. Pennsylvania Gunsmith School is honored to be the first-ever recipient of the Doug Turnbull Fi****ms Restoration Arts Grant.

The grant supports the continued teaching of traditional restoration techniques - from precision filing and polishing to metal finishing - giving the next generation an opportunity to learn the technical skills behind the craft.

At PGS, those skills are taught at the workbench, practiced in the shop, and carried forward by the next generation of craftsmen.

Finishing isn't just about appearance.

Preparation, technique and process all matter and the right finish can provide protection and change how a piece performs over time.

At PGS, students learn the technical side of metal finishing as part of their gunsmithing training.

There’s a difference between working on something and understanding why it works.

Tinkering can teach you a lot. But technical training takes that curiosity further, into the mechanics, precision, and problem-solving behind the work.

At Pennsylvania Gunsmith School, students don't just learn how to work on a project. They learn to understand the craft behind it.

The first recipient. A recognition of the craft. Pennsylvania Gunsmith School is honored to be the inaugural recipient of the Doug Turnbull Fi****ms Restoration Arts Grant.

The recognition highlights the importance of preserving traditional fi****ms restoration skills and passing them from one generation of craftsmen to the next. For PGS, that means continuing to teach the techniques, precision, and hands-on problem-solving that restoration demands.

“Someday” is easy to say.

One day I'll build my own r***e.
One day I'll learn to machine.
One day I'll develop the skills to do this myself.

At some point, “one day” has to become a date.

If you're serious about learning the trade, it's time to put one on the calendar.

Some days at PGS are spent at the bench.

Some are spent behind a machine.

Others are spent figuring out why something isn't working—and how to make it right.

Here's another look inside the shop.

Restoration takes more than making an old piece look new.

It takes careful inspection, precision fitting, metalwork, finishing and the ability to understand what needs to be preserved and what needs to be repaired.

At PGS, restoration is part of the hands-on training students receive in the shop.
