Nirupama at Nirupama Kumar volunteered to have me audit one of her videos, and I want to say thank you, because asking for this takes courage and openness.

She put neurosurgeon and neuroaesthetics researcher in the first line of her bio, and then made a beautiful video about art with zero neuroscience in it.

I did this too. I led with Ivy League and a masters in social work every single time, and treated my voiceover training and TV hosting background, and the writing my book, like a hobby on the side.

We both had two halves and we both decided one was the real one and the other was a fun fact about us.

Nirupama, in your next video, add one sentence. Every time you decode a piece of art, add the line only a neuroscientist could say. What the color does to the viewer. Why the eye goes where it goes. One sentence, every time, and the category is yours.

I can't wait to watch what you say!

Give me sixty seconds of your video and I'll tell you the exact sentence your doubt deleted.

That's the work inside The Out Loud School.

One thing about me, I will always talk to my father out loud. I know he IS so proud of me.

Talk to your loved ones out loud. They're listening.

Thank you sara driver for letting me audit your video out loud 🙏🏽

Here's what I keep seeing, and most of you are doing this too.

Vague feels safe. Vague can't be wrong. If you say you work with people who want more time, more money, and a life they actually pictured, nobody argues with you. Nobody unfollows, Nobody decides you're not for them.

When you get clear and specific about who you work with, you're also saying something about yourself too. If you say you work with people who are DONE asking for permission, you're also telling everybody you're the person who also stopped asking.

That's not just a description of your client. That's ten toes down about you are.

Thats the part that keeps people vague. It's not what you're saying. It's what's underneath it.

So naturally, the clearer version goes on your website where it feels safe, contained, and protected, and the vague version goes in the content where everybody's watching.

Vagueness is safety. Vagueness is protection. Start picky AF as to who you work with. And it starts with you, being specific about what you're available for, and what you're unavailable for.

đź’¦ Comment WATER and I'll send you my training how to stop watering yourself down on camera. This is the internal work, and there is no version of standing out that skips it. It's deeper than just content. It's your subconscious.

I've been reflecting on my experience speaking at Turn Up Dance Fitness™️, hosted by Tanci | Turn Up Dance Fitness™️ Founder & CEO.

Being in that room reminded me of who the hell I am.

I am bold. I am clear. I am fun. I love to dance. I am warm. I am accepting of people.I am generous with my presence. I have the ability to make anyone feel seen and heard. I am transparent. I share the lows, the in-between, and the highs. I let people into my world. I have zero shame when it comes to sharing my life with people.

It is no coincidence that on the night I got back to home to Austin, TX, I heard my father's voice speak to me at 1am right before I went into deep sleep. It wasn't in my head. I wasn't going crazy. I legit heard his voice like he was standing behind me. He said he loved me. I said it back out loud.

Being witnessed in my fullness, in my bigness, in my dancing queen era, opened up parts of myself that have quite frankly been dormant.

I cleared something inside of me. A part of me that has been pushing through my grief. The practical part of me (Ta**us) just said, "he's dead, he's gone. that's it."

God threw me a bone. For once in my life, I don't feel crazy. I am not gaslighting what I heard. I know what I heard. I heard my father's voice.

He is here. He is watching me. He is proud of who I am.

I owe this experience to the Turn Up Dance Fitness™️ community for being so open, loving and encouraging, and to Tanci | Turn Up Dance Fitness™️ Founder & CEO for inviting me.

We are no longer doubting ourselves, our intuition, and the voice inside of us that has been with us alll along. It's time to turn down the voices of everyone else. YES. EVERYONE ELSE. And TURN UP your inner voice, OUT LOUD.
