Students from across the University are getting the opportunity to build their analysis, communication, presentation and persuasion skills with the professional sales and business development minor (PSBD). The program, offered by Moody College of Communication and McCombs School of Business, The University of Texas at Austin, aims provide students with essential and foundational skills that will give them a head start in their professional careers.

“Every class that I’ve taken within the minor has given me practice for real-world situations, which I then used in both internships that I’ve had...Because it’s a joint program, you get opportunities from Moody College and McCombs that only students in our minor receive."

Texas Moody Texas Advertising & Public Relations class of 2018 alum Connor Wood is trading his cowboy boots for dancing shoes on this season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars!

Wood, also known as "Fibula" by his 1.5 million fans on social media, has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter's Creator A-List, was named a "Comic to Watch" by the New York Comedy festival and even headlined a sold-out show at the "Netflix is a Joke" festival!

It was great to host guest speaker Dan Bartlett, Walmart executive vice president of corporate affairs, during the COM 303: Leadership Presence/Presentation class last week!

Bartlett, who was White House communications director for George W. Bush and has worked with Walmart for 16 years, spoke to the class about managing stakeholders, how to be a strong leader and effective communication during times of crisis. Students also learned the importance of preparedness and managing high volumes of information for presentations and discussions.

"In an environment where there's so much information and there is so much noise, punching through with effective communication is sometimes the difference in competitive edge.”

Moody College of Communication is proud to announce the establishment of The Center for Communication in Aging and Dementia (CCAD), housed within the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.

Through the formal designation of CCAD, there will be increased opportunities for research funding, more positions for students and trainees with unique clinical and research experiences and, ultimately, more readily available help for those navigating life changes and dementia diagnoses.

"With dementia, people primarily think about memory loss instead of communication disorders, but there are communication challenges present in virtually every type of dementia."

Last week, we celebrated the official dedication of the new Eastin Center for Career Readiness, made possible by a transformative $10 million gift from Joe and Monica Eastin and the Eastin Foundation.

The investment will expand opportunities for students through a career fellows program, enhanced career readiness initiatives and increased support for unpaid internships. UT Austin President Jim Davis and Interim Moody College Dean Anita Vangelisti joined the celebration, recognizing the Eastins’ dedication to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals. 🤘

What happens when a Grammy-nominated country music star and a Texas Longhorns MVP and NFL quarterback swap skills?

Our COM 301E students got a front-row seat today as Thomas Rhett taught C**t McCoy a few guitar chords while C**t showed Thomas how to throw a spiral. The interaction served as a lesson that no matter the skill, clear and effective communication is the key to learning something new.

And the excitement didn't stop there… 25 lucky students scored tickets to see Thomas Rhett perform at Moody Center tonight! 🤘

This summer, Texas Immersive showcased The Harmonic Sea: Humanity in Motion, an interactive installation developed for the 2026 SNF Nostos Conference in Athens, Greece.

Students worked with 3D design professionals to digitally develop 70,000 concurrent fish for the project. The installation allowed participants to input their emotions via a QR code, which would then output a digital sea creature on a 20-foot screen. At the end of the eight day conference, the data was used to broadcast the collective emotional insight of the attendees.
