This resonates today.
We live in a world where people are often quicker to assume ill intent from a child who is still learning than from an adult who should already know better.
Children are still developing:
- emotional regulation
- communication
- problem-solving
- impulse control
- self-awareness
Yet adults frequently label children as:
“manipulative”
“attention-seeking”
“defiant”
“disrespectful”
Meanwhile, harmful adult behavior is excused as stress, burnout, frustration, or “having a bad day.”
What if we extended children the same grace we so often extend adults?
Especially neurodivergent children.
Especially disabled children.
Especially children whose needs are misunderstood instead of supported.
Children deserve guidance, safety, and support while they learn.
Not shame for being in the process of development.
Remember, children are people too!
